I think ive killed it!
whilst in the middle of a burn using nero express i accidentally hit eject.
It did as it was told,ejected and then went mental for a bit, then just froze up.
now it wont read burn or do anything except flash a couple of times when iput in any disc format.
My pc is still reading it i think, cos its showing up in my computer and lets me eject etc....

Try eliminating your burner from the Windows Device Manager, then reboot and have it redetected. That oughta fix it.

Hey thanks ajz for your reply.
Only problems is, i cant acsess my device manager.Its been disabled by network administrator when i used it at work, and i now have the pc at home and cant do this other than wipe the hard drive and start over, icant think of anything else to remedy it?

how about down loading firmware?would that do it....?

I wouldn't update the firmware yet.

Try: START -> RUN ->

Then type in the box: control sysdm.cpl

This should show the hidden control panel.

Or, read this:
http://support.microsoft.com/support.../Q207/7/50.asp

(the link explains how to hide stuff... so just undo any changes to perform the opposite)

The link is applicable to WinNT4. I don't know what OS you have, but you can search the Microsoft knowledgebase to find out what is applicable to your OS.
