Firmware 0047 to be released tuesday

Hi guys,

Marco just informed me, that firmware 0047 has been released today. It should be available for download from BTC's website tuesday. I have had no details about the changelog except for the fact that DVD-R with MID=TYG01 are working fine again (broken with 0045) and that DVD+RW with MID=PHILIPS.041 should be supported. Apart from that? Lets find out!

Marco also mentioned that BTC has decided to include bitsetting support in future firmwares. There is even a 99.9% chance that it will be included in firmware 0048!

Is this good news or is it good news????

Please share your experiences with firmware 0047 in this thread.

Thanks to Marco for sharing this information

Have a nice day,
Peter

Well I can say for sure that MID=PHILIPS.041 may be supported in firmware but the write strategy being used is no good. Written media shows very bad result in K's Probe (see below) and the media is only recognizable in the BTC drive. Damn, not exactly what I was looking for!

Like I said it should be available tomorrow.

However, if you (or anybody else for that matter) feel comfortable flashing in DOS, then drop me a Personal Message including your e-mail address and I will send it to you. I will however not be held responsible for any mishaps, and I will not be able to help you out in any way if something goes wrong. Now don't tell me I didn't warn you

Cheers,
Peter

true , i've had troubles , you won't believe , allready like 20 dvd-r's i've trown in the gutter..
Princo , lead data , and some other brands , tried em all , all the burning goes fine in nero 6.0.0.28 , burn succesfull , but when i try them in a standalone dvd player or in a game console , doesn't matter , most of the burned discs won't read ....
my old toshiba sdr5002 was a slow one (2 speed) and only dvd-r . but all the discs i burned with it worked , no matter wich brand used , now i have bought like 4 brands , and still having problems , it's driving me nuts !

It is also very importand that they'll release a changelog as well,
so that we can see which new medias are supported and which write strategy has been modified (to the better i hope)
As long as it conserns me i had no troubles with TYG01 and FW 0043 .I attach an examble below

How on earth did you ever manage to produce such a nice scan? I have attached my result with TYG01 and firmware 0043. What kind of IDE cable have you used to connect your BTC drive? A standard 40-pin or a 80-pin UATA66. I'm using the latter.

Wait for the Windows version. Should save you a lot of trouble.

And here's the scan when burned with firmware 0047. Not exactly an improvement!

In regards to not bee able to use a floopy, burn to a cd, boot with a 98 floopy with cdrom support and then execute the mtklash program according:

For secondary master:
MTKFLASH 3 W /C /M16 ALL.HEX

FOR SECONDARY SLAVE:
MTKFLASH 4 W /C /M16 ALL.HEX

I tried the F.BAT and it didn't work. Remember you are risking loosing your drive so either wait or Flash at your own risk like PDU said.

BTW PDU thanks for the firmware.

dont you have to boot without cd-rom drivers or flash without a cdrom in the dvd-writer?

Pdu,
i am also using a 80-pin UATA66 IDE cable and i use my BTC drive
as a slave in the primary IDE channel where master is an old MAXTOR HD 15GB(UATA 66).In the secondary IDE channel master is a WESTERN DIGITAL 120GB(UATA133), where i put my ripped DVDs and burn them from, and slave an old CREATIVE dvd-rom.With TYG01 i always get similar results no matter if i use TDK-R 4X or cheaper no names(scans show a little bit better results with COPYTODVD than with nero).

ok i flashed the 0047 firmware yesterday evening (23.00u belgium time).
I've burned 2 princo's dvd-r , same problem occured , the write was succesfull in nero 6.0.0.28 , but when i try the disc in a standalone dvd player or a game console , no disc .
I then tried on lead data dvd-r's , and it seems so far that they are better now... burned also 2 discs and they where ok.
Got to go , to work now , cya guys later after some more testing !

ok, i just burned my first lead data coaster. The burn went as usual succesfull , but when i try to read the disc in a standalone player / game console , it won't recognize the disc .
I don't know but it seems there is something really wrong with this btc drive ; or the firmware ...
I'm certainly not satisfied with the results so far

maybe it's your console or standalone that is the problem?
