Firmware 0045 - Report your problems here

If you have experienced problems after upgrading the BTC 1004 writer to firmware 0045 please post them here. Hopefully they will be sorted out in 0046.

If you haven't got firmware 0043 anymore but want to switch back from 0045 get it here http://users.cybercity.dk/~dsl94233/...DR1004V043.EXE. I will of course remove the link if requested by BTC.

Cheers,
Peter

Burning quality

Ok, I'll better start posting myself.

I have experienced some strange problems with both firmware 0044 (beta) and 0045. Discs (TYG01 being used) burned with these firmwares contain about 10% unreadable blocks when verified with Nero Scandisk surfacescan on another DVD drive. If I burn this media with firmware 0039 or 0043 the discs have no unreadable blocks at all.

It's worth noting that the medias burned with all firmwares verify without problems on the BTC drive itself. So it might be a good idea to verify your media on another DVD drive if you are using firmware 0045. You don't want that backup to fail when you need it do you?

I'm not saying this behaviour is present with all medias. So far I have only been able to test this with Verbatim DLP 4X DVD-R (MID=TYG01). Marco has been informed and he promised me that BTC would investigate this further.

In the meantime take a look at these tests (low transferrate = bad burnquality):

Firmware 0039, Transfer test performed on Aopen 2412Pro DVD+ burner

Firmware 0043, Transfer test performed on Aopen 2412Pro DVD+ burner

Firmware 0044, Transfer test performed on Aopen 2412Pro DVD+ burner

Firmware 0045, Transfer test performed on Aopen 2412Pro DVD+ burner

Hi,
I've downgraded to 043 because I had a few problems with the 045, the 2 main ones are :
When I burn a DVD-RW or DVD+RW at 2 x with nero 6 a error was always occuring so I had to burn at 1 x (still errors sometimes)
And the biggest problem is the one I explained in
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread....threadid=79521

better now with 043 !

Sure mate, no sweat. I'll wait

In the meantime: has anything been changed in v0046 except for this "We found an issue with updating on certain drives with a certain Flash ROM, so we decided to retract the V0045 firmware"? The reason for asking, is that I did manage to flash to 0045 but I still have some weird experienced with 0045, like

1) Not being able to write to medias with MID=TYG01. The written discs would not verify in other DVD-ROMS and sometimes not in the 1004 either. This media worked perfectly with 0039 and 0043. I emailed you details about this issue.

2) Problems writing two discs in a row. If I tried a second one, it would fail. Had to restart Windows before writing a new/second disc.

Cheers,
Peter
