Hello!

A friend have buy this burner last week. He said it burns good quality but slows down with the burning speed near the end of the writing process, is it normal?

And he have questions, if a new firmware remove this things:

-RW-Reading only max. 32x
-DAE only at max. 40x
-Reading from backups with Safedisc-Protection veryyyyyyy slow (but reading the originals very fast)

The latest firmware for this drive is 000F.

Nowadays the closing of a disc/session takes up a large amount of time compared to the actual burning time, so if he means that the writing of the lead-out is slow, then that's probably normal.

The 32X CDRW reading speed and 40X audio extraction speed are the specs of this model. A new firmware will not change this.

Hello!

Thanks for the answers

No, it´s not the slower burn of the leadout. The drive accelerates to a speed from 45x-47x and at this point the drive slows down to 40x (only with some media, it happens not with all media)

The answer is in your response. So it's media related. Towards the outer edge of the media, the speed gets higher, and the imperfections of the disc (inner circle, wobble, etc.) become more obvious, so the drive has to do more work stabilizing the media to keep track, which could mean a little bit slowing down of the speed.
