DVDRW IDE1008 Fails in Nero 7 I've been using my trusty Emprex branded BTC 1008 for years now with little to no problems. I had previously been using Nero 6 (the exact version number I forget). I recently reformatted my system and installed Nero 7.10.1.0 on a fresh install of Windows XP, and now the damn thing refuses to burn any DVD media I throw at it, even media that were confirmed working before the reformat. I'm using a super old, factory installed firmware version, but I don't think that's the root of the problem. I have been using this drive and firmware for years now, and all of a sudden it fails to burn the same exact media I have been using for years. Anyone know what the problem is? It's incredibly frustrating. So far I've tried Sony DVD+R and DVD+RWs and some really ancient unmarked disks (I think they're Ritek)

Re: DVDRW IDE1008 Fails in Nero 7 Install the newest firmware for your drive. And did you try another burning software or older versions of Nero after the fresh install? examples of freeware burning software: http://www.cdburnerxp.se http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Easy_Burning.htm http://www.canadiancontent.net/tech/...Burn4Free.html http://www.canadiancontent.net/tech/...eepBurner.html

Re: DVDRW IDE1008 Fails in Nero 7 It might be a firmware thing, but I doubt it. I was able to burn all of the media I had before the reformat. I tried DeepBurner, but that just produced coasters. The good news is that I was able to get my unmarked DVD-R media working again in Nero 6. Now it's having problems with my Sony DVD+R and DVD+RW media. The odd thing is that these used to work, on the same firmware.

Re: DVDRW IDE1008 Fails in Nero 7 I've faced the same probelm and stil have it. It is special with new updates of windows XP. Before update, the nero will work so fine. On vista it works so fine. I still have the probelm with windows XP after updating it!
