Data DVD Burn Failed

Hello,

I have recently bought a BTC DVD +/- Recorder, model DRW1004IM, I burnt my
first DVD RW no problem about 4.0GB consisting of 4 VHS Film Transfers.

The next DVD is where I encountered problems, I tried to back up about 4.3GB
of data from my Hard Drive organised into folders, I used a "Sky" DVD+R and
Nero 5.5.10.33, which came with the Drive. After a few complaints about
naming conventios and depth of folders, which I ammended, the DVD burnt away
very slowly though, about 15 / 20 mins.
Nero reached about 99 percent and started the lead out stage and BINGO The
message "Could not perform end of Disc-at-Once".

I have scoured the Net and found lots of examples of this that state that it
is a Nero compatability problem, one post said that versions of Nero 5.5 and
6.0 have the same problem and to use 5.5.10.42, which I could not find on
the Nero site so I downloaded 5.5.10.54 the latest version of Nero 5.5.
I have since found Nero 5.5.10.42 but have read another post saying that
this has a similiar problem.

I have also read that this problem appears with some Plextor Drives using
Nero and I have read somewhere that the drive in the BTC may actually be the
same as a Plextor, is this true?

Anyway before I waste money and start a coaster production line I need to
know:-
Which version of Nero should I use?
Should I upgrade the firmware on my DVD Burner? I have downloaded V043 from
the BTC site but they state not to upgrade if the drive is working which in
theory it probably is!!

Thanks in advance

Bill H

Could you please post the media info of the SKY DVD+R ?
It might be a media compatibility problem......

Have you tried NTI CD&DVD Maker 6.5 ? It's worth trying....

Dear Skavenger,

Media compatibility is a big problem in the world of DVD burners.

Basically, we recommend you stick to media with the MID codes which are mentioned on the BTC website at:

The Sky DVD`s were DVD+R, Swiss Made, 4.7GB / 120 Min Video, WWW.SKYMEDIAMANUFACTURING.COM
No other details apart from a barcode.

Marco

I have visited the link you supplied and have saved a copy of the media lists compatible with the BTC DW1004.
Do I need to upgrade the firmware of my burner in order to be compatible with all the media listed??

Im gonna go ahead and do another burn this time with DVD RW and see if works, how reliable are DVD RW's at keeping info I have had several CDRW's go tits up when at first they were readable, the dat is still on the CD "Using ISObuster", but the directory must be corrupt.

P.S. the data on the failed DVD+R is also visible using ISObuster and when I insert it into NERO as if it were a multisession it recognises the track but cannot access it.

Is there anyway of closing this DVD to make it readable??
I tried DVD Decryptor but had no joy.

Try to extract the data from the disc using IsoBuster. Although it does show, it could be corrupted..

Besides that, I've got a question for you: what other software with CD/DVD burning capabilities is installed on your system? I've had the same (identical) problem, and it turned out to be that Pinnacle Instant copy 8 was the cause for this. After removing that software, it all worked like a charm...

Skavenger,

Did you check the MID code of your media ?

Is it SKYMEDIAR01 or another one ?

Also, have you tried a 2nd disc ? If so, what was the result ?

Dee-ehn - I#m not sure what CD/DVD burning software I have a Pinnacle TV Card but no burning software.
I use Realone player which has a CD burn option and also Windows Media player, I also have install an Intervideo package that includes WinDVD, Wincoder, Winrip, Winproducer some of which probably have the ability to bur DVD's

Marco - Forgive my ignorance but how do I find the MID code?
