BTC/ Emprex Burner Discuss, Can't flash 1008 at CD and DVD Burners forum; Currently have 55 firmware, trying to upgrade to 256 and live update can't find the drive, and the 256 exe gives me the problem you see in the image. This is a fresh install of windows without nforce drivers installed. I am not using a hd controller card.

Can't flash 1008

Currently have 55 firmware, trying to upgrade to 256 and live update can't find the drive, and the 256 exe gives me the problem you see in the image.

This is a fresh install of windows without nforce drivers installed. I am not using a hd controller card.

If I were you, I'd use MTKFLASH (v1.69 or higher) and flash from a vanilla DOS boot disk. Seems safer to me anyway than flashing under Windows.

Searching this forum for MTKFLASH will bring up a number of references telling you what to watch out for.

Ya I thought about doing that, but where do I get the .bin for 256 firmware?

For an rpc1 firmware, have a look at the Dangerous Brothers' site.

As of today, fw 256 is not available yet on this page (the latest fw is 156), but my guess is that you won't have to wait for long.

I finally got it to flash. I put it from slave to master (took off my dvd-rom drive for the flash) and it finally took.

This should be said in the flash program 'cannot flash when drive is in slave configuration'. Also, now the auto update program sees me drive.
