I updated my firmware to 00159 after some burning issues after loading XP SP2, now although it says found new hardware it fails installation of the drive because of a driver error "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

how do I deleted the driver and re-install, the flash upgrade said it worked ok and have run it again and it says it works OK.

i don't think that this is a problem with your drive and i'm not sure how to help you but it's maybe a problem with SP2. You can uninstall SP2 and try the installation again.

Is you drive shown in device manager? If it is installed delete the IDE channel (where your drive is located to).

The uninstall can be done by clicking start-->sytem settings-->system, the device manager can be found under the hardware tab. check the CD/DVD-ROM drives select the drive if available and right click to properties, ther you can find all the options you need.

To delete the IDE channel, select the IDE ATA/ATAPI-controller and just delete the IDE channel where your drive is located. After a reinstall windows will install the channel new.
