BTC BCE3212IM will only burn at 16X

This drive worked perfectly at 32X when I bought it. Now it will only burn at 16X. I've tried several brands of media,it makes no difference. I would appreciate if someone would e-mail me firmware for the 40X or higher speed version of this drive, I think it might be worth a try.I'm using Nero 5.5.9.17.

Thanks in advance

You will need someone who has this drive to back their firmware up in order to get it. Good luck.

I believe you have the same drive as me, a bunch of people also seem to be having problem with the btc 32x drives reading new media. I've tried flashing to a 48x but the chipset appears to be different. I've read one thread with someone flashing to the 40x drive but i can't find the firmware yet. However they did say they had trouble reading the burnt cd's afterwards. Mine is a memorex 32maxx AK model that is made by btc. I'm afraid I have no solution at the moment other than to find newer btc firmware to try if possible. The other solution was to try sony (some drives by btc) that hasn't worked. If you know of any other manufactorers firware to try please let me know.

You could try here...

Thanks to Gary Kokkin who posted this for me over at CDRLabs... the 32x BTC firmware on here allows me to burn quite a wide range of media (MBI, Ritek, Prodisc, CMC, TY and others) at full 32x. Not bad results either.
