You can extract the firmware using mtkflash in DOS.

To view your current firmware, use Nero InfoTool: http://www.cdspeed2000.com

Yes, you can find 008H here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1509
The drive will have to be Secondary Master or Secondary Slave. Run FL.BAT from real DOS and it will flash your drive.

I do not think so. BTC overclocks seem to work for some, but not for others. If you try overclocking and it doesn't work, then chances are that you can flash back to a backup of your original firmware. Can you send me a backup please? Make it with mtkflash in DOS as explained here: http://dhc014.rpc1.org/mtkflash.htm
