With what flash utility have you been flashing the drive?
Can BTC 4816IM be upgraded to BTC 5224IM?

MTKFLASH

No BTC 4816 uses MT1508E and not the MT1518E
So unless you get a new revision of the board that has the MT1561E its not going to be possible to upgrade to 52x 24x

All right, then here's the questions:
1. What version of MTKFLASH were you using - i tried to read my drive's ROM with MTKFLASH 1.55 yesterday, and it said, that flash type unknown, but started reading.
2. With what parameters were you using MTKFLASH?
3. If something goes wrong during flash process, can i reflash my previous firmware?
4. Where can i find some guides on how to flash with MKTFLASH, or can you send me a guide, how you flashed your BTC? My e-mail is ovcharov@ua.fm

Hi,

i had such a bad experience with BTC that i returned the BTC and got an LG instead.

If i remember correct it was some ver prior to 1.55 but i think 1.55 should also work.

You can get all vers of MTKFLASH here

http://wald.heim.at/sherwood/530742/dvd/mt/

MTKFLASH * R /M /B XXX.BIN

MTKFLASH flashed blindly so you should be able to flash back if anything goes wrong infact i had tried firmware for 3-4 diff makes of drives on my BTC right from ASus to lite-on none ever worked but was able to flash the drive back to a BTC everytime.

Are these parameters for reading firmware, or for flashing? How can i backup my old BIOS (i mean what string should i use)? Should i use bin file from your site (that 512 Kb file) And finally, what problems had you with BTC?
BTW, 1.55 seems to be the latest.

For backing up your original firmware

MTKFLASH * R /M /B XXX.bin

*1=Pri master
2=Pri slave
3=Sec master
4=Sec slave

for Upadting firmware

MTKFLASH * W /B xxx.bin

if i remember correct it was ver 1.48 try it and see.
