| What is wrong with eMule? Ok my friend, was downloading a large file today and got it done in 3 hours. Around 3.5 gigs on eMule. Now I use Lphant which is eMule just it manges torrents. Now I am trying to download a 2.4 gig file and it has 842 useful peers. It is going slower then a slug on fire. 1.2 kb. Why? I have the same intenet connection as my friend. Cable. My Intenet is fast with any other filesharing program I have. What is wrong with it? Do I have to let it run? I am connected to the Donkey Server No2. I know Razorback closed, but shouldnt Donkey server be just as fast? Please help me.

| Re: What is wrong with eMule? There is a difference between eMule and eDonkey. Firstly the servers have nothing to do with speed. Now you are complaining about your download speed. What is your upload set to for the ed2k network? ed2k is not a tit-for-tat system it is about filesharing and there are punishments inplace for leachers and clients that don't impliment the protocols correctly. The network download speed will always equals the network upload speed, and last time I looked most people were pn a 256 up line. Therefore it does not matter how fast your downspeed is as it is the upseed of the sharer you are connected to that matters. Next we move onto your client it is well known that multi-protocol clients tend to be a poor compromise and some don't impliment the protocols correctly. It might be bettwer for you to get a torrent only client and eMule as seperate clients. Therefore your title is a misnomer. It should be what is wrong with Lphant? Why blame eMule for Lphants' failings? Oh and if you want help actually trying to find thecause of the problem more info is needed. Router/modem, settings, number of files you are trying to dl of ed2k network, ID status, etc. |

| Re: What is wrong with eMule? In my experience, there are two things that impact your eMule performance. 1. The ports. You can use the official eMule port tester, but make sure that you're really forwarding the right TCP ... AND ... UDP ports in your router or firewall. 2. You have to let it run. You will NOT get good speed right away. Leave it running overnight and I think you'll find your speed gets better. However, sometimes you just can't catch a break with eMule. I've had times when - as you mention - I have hundreds of people who have a file, and yet it's only coming in at 5K/sec. but then other times with only a handful of people connected, the file shows up at lightspeed. |
