Re: UTorrent help?

Look here

http://portforward.com/english/appli.../Utorindex.htm

Find your router first, then find the program that you wish to forward the ports. Stay away from commonly used port numbers as isp's tend to throttle them.

Did you follow the FAQ on utorrent page? They do give you steps and settings to follow for you router. But could be possible the links you have are slow or goes offline and online at the uploader descretion...

Re: UTorrent help?

I do not think you want uTorrent any later then version 1.6.

I doubt that is your problem but just wanted to mention it.

I use a Linksys WRT54GL and do not even have to forward any ports for some reason?

I hear rumors that some ISP's are throttling bit torrent traffic...nor sure if it is true or not...but if this problem just started with a new ISP I would google that ISP and bit torrent throttling...

I am a newb on these forums so just a couple thoughts!

Posts #2 and #3 seem like good advice.

Re: UTorrent help?

I already went to http://portforward.com/ and followed the instructions for my router with no luck. I did that before even posting here

Re: UTorrent help?

Are you having troubles keep the settings within your router that you create?

What port ranges are you using?

Re: UTorrent help?

I used the port umm 12712. When I check my router settings it shows that what I added is still there and allowed but within utorrent, it says the port is not open and my speeds are crap.

Re: UTorrent help?

Something is not right, it's not Utorrent.

I think the ports are still not open.

What was the info that you put into the router.

If your are nervous on giving the details, just say ip for your internet address and you can change the port number in Utorrent and with in your router.

I hope that this is the correct layout of your router.

Re: UTorrent help?

Bare with me, it's kind hard to do this from away as I am not a 100% familiar on how the all functions within your router work. My router port forwards in a little different manner.

Try editing your options a bit, you will not hurt anything.

Something to try.

Red means port fowarding is on the wrong port to let through utorrent access to DN/UP.....There is more instructions on the port fowarding page are you sure you pick the right user defined program access to the net?

Re: UTorrent help?

I have the patience to get you through this.

I wanted to give you an example. When I port forward through my router, I have to define two rules within my router.

Re: UTorrent help?

Not to try and jump in to confuse you, but have you tried any higher port values (49152-65535) as I think some ISP's block the lower range ports.
