Upload gone up to 70 KBPS from only 35 KBPS (WTF?)

Hello, this is strange... I have had the same ISP for over a year now and all of a sudden my upload speed seems to have risen to 70 KBPS from only 35 KBPS. Is this possible? I first noticed on Utorrent that my upload speed was going unusually fast and I just thought it was a sort of glitch. After a while it was still going at this speed so I decided to do a DSL speed test, and sure enough my speed showed up as being 70 KBPS! Is this possible? Do you think my ISP did some kind of upgrade? Do you think maybe they made a mistake and accidentally increased my upload speed? I'm certainly not complaining, I just would like to know how the hell this happened. Thanks.

They may have done an upgrade, but if they did it's odd that they didn't contact you. Mine have given us free speed upgrades in the past, but they always announced it first by email.

Ah, they might have emailed me, I don't use the email that my ISP gave me. I will take a look, thanks.

Wow, my download speed also went up. It went from 370 KBPS to around 560 KBPS, what the hell is going on? lol. I've never heard of anything like this before.

Maybe my ISP is giving everybody an early Christmas present, lol. If someone else has any suggestions to what this could be let me know. Thanks.

As I said, I have. My ISP gave all their customers a boost, both upstream and down, awhile back.

If more than one download source (uTorrent, regular IE downloads...) gives you the higher speed, I'd say that's exactly what's happened.

Enjoy!

Re: Upload gone up to 70 KBPS from only 35 KBPS (WTF?)

Yup, my ISP emailed me telling me that they increased the upload and download speed. My upload speed is one of the highest I have heard of for DSL, it actually reaches around 100 KBPS (before it was only 35 KBPS) when it's maxed out, and download is up to 560 KBPS (before it was only 360 KBPS). That is one hell of a speed increase! I love my ISP now! Finally I will be able to become a power user on torrent sites more quickly than before. This rocks!

Ooh, somebody's on the Broadband Complete 10meg option, I'm 4meg myself and I'd kill for some upload so I could host better online games.
