UK to shake up dated copyright laws

Quote:
The UK is looking to change copyright laws that make it illegal to copy music for personal use and for libraries to archive material under copyright.

Re: UK to shake up dated copyright laws

Lol.

If we tell them they can copy CD's for their own use, they will recognise (and obey) other content protection laws.

That's rather optimistic.

How about they change the copyright laws for artists which died 50 years ago?
Once the artist is dead + 5 years (in the case the musicians die shortly after recording a new album- allows the producers to recoup the production costs), the music is public domain.

Admitting that you've illegally downloaded movies/songs and need help to process/burn is comparable to robbing a bank, and walking into the bank the next day holding the bags of money to deposit them into your account.
Don't be surprised if people laugh at you when you make the headlines.
