Domain transfer

On 19 December 2007, the project's domain name, shareaza.com, was redirected to promoting the download of a new client, called ShareazaV4, which is not connected to the original software.[4] The original project's home page was moved to SourceForge.net.
Since 1 January 2008, the new domain uses Shareaza's built-in automatic update feature to suggest to users that the ShareazaV4 application is an update to Shareaza. This vulnerability was fixed in Shareaza 2.3.1.0.[5]
The La Societe Des Producteurs De Phonogrammes En France (SPPF), the representative of recording labels in France, had sued Jonathan Nilson since at the time his name was under the domain shareaza.com. Currently shareaza.com is under the control of MusicLab, an assitant to the RIAA and an associate of SPPF. [6]

One thing I'm rather surprised about is that there is nothing on Shareaza's SourceForge homepage mentioning that shareaza.com is a scam, although its forum does mention this. There are a handful of stories going around mentioning about the hostile takeover of the domain.

At this time of writing, the .com scam site is listed as the first result when I search for 'shareaza' on Google and MSN, not good for those unaware of this issue. Yahoo lists the proper SourceForge site as its first result and does not list the .com site at all in its first page of results.
