Question about legal implications of illegally downloaded movies

Hi, new here.
Our son has downloaded some movies from a site. We received an email from
Comcast stating that action has been taken pertaining to 2 movies he downloaded. The dates and times were included in the emails. The ISP account is in my husbands name. Does anyone know what is next?
Are we expecting a knock on the door? The email stated copyright infringement. We live in Michigan.
Thanks,
FD

No don't worry about it. Thats just your ISP trying to tell you to stop ripping off Billionairs cause they dont have enough money. I whouldnt worry about it you ISP doesnt take it any farther then just sending you emails. The RIAA or the MPAA isnt going to come a knockin at your door. In Fact you son should keeping downloading movies. Just tell him to be more careful about it. Try BitTorrent. Torrents for that matter. You could just go to Bittorrent.com they have a bunch of legal movies that you can download for free. Along with games. But Torrentz.com searches all indexs of other torrent site.

Re: Question

Your son is not to allowed to download copyrighted movies, nor is discussing it allowed on this forum.

The best thing to do at this stage is to remove all illegally downloaded materials. It is not likely that they will make a court case over a few movies (a forum search will turn up previous discussions on this subject), especially not if you have corrected your wrongs.

Re: Question about legal implications of illegally downloaded movies

For the most part, the people they seem to go after are the ones that have been caught sharing a huge library of material. They are probably just wishing to scare you into stopping with the letter. If they do go after you, so far as I know, they tend to try to bully a setelment of a few thousand dollars out of you rather than actually taking you to court (unless you don't pay the setelment).

Re: Question about legal implications of illegally downloaded movies

Thank you for the replies.
Also, thank you for changing my post title, it's much better now.
We have been quite upset over this and didn't know who/where to ask about this.
We have removed the movies the email mentioned, and the others he had downloaded. Not taking this lightly - no money to pay anyone for something like that!
Thanks again.
