FTP sites and Copyright Law

I am a new member to this site. There are so many interesting posts. Believe me, I do not know that much about computers-but I am doing a law research paper on the legality of FTP sites dealing mainly with copyright law. Do any of you know where I can find some info? Also, have some music artists approved of sharing their music via FTP sites? Please let me know! Thanks.

Re: FTP sites and Copyright Law

Sharing through FTP sites is equally legal or illegal as sharing through web, P2P or any other means. This site may be a good start:

I also don't think it's possible for an artist to actually authorize their music to be shared unless they own the music in question (most of the time they do not, some record company owns it). However, there are examples where artists have directly sued file-sharers for infringing on their intellectual property.
