| The Best P2P In my humble opinion(and i've tried alot),is direct connect++ aka direct connect plus plus,if you are willing to share a reasonable ammount back..the returns are awesome,on all types of music/video/games..etc old+new, the hubs/rooms are strict yes,but if u are a genuine sharer no problem to you,i replaced 80% of my rock music collection on vinyl from there 1,000 + albums, and unlike other p2p's namely kazaa,u get what u load, and 99% of time a great copy,i highly recomend private hubs...take the time to apply to them it is worth it.hope this helps someone ![]() |

| as a footnote, when it comes to setting up..on the sharing option...down the bottom of the page it is recomended to open 2 upload slots, different hubs/rooms have different requirements..but the majority accept 2...and the unwritten norm is 2 slots for each hub you in at same time. |

| I like Overnet/Edonkey2000, because their network has a number of files that I can't get my hands on anywhere else eg. like computer game manuals (.pdf).

| $CyBeRwIz$: I like Overnet/Edonkey2000, because their network has a number of files that I can't get my hands on anywhere else eg. like computer game manuals (.pdf). That network is soo slow. Que lines 20 000 long. I never used DC++, but i used BT, G1, G2, ed2k. and BT and G2 are the best. very fast G2 has the most features of any network anywhere. Its fast and the longest que i ever got stuck in is 10. On ed2k, as soon as i got connected my que reached its max of ten in about 15 min. Can anyone give me a good reason to switch to dc++ from Shareaza (www.shareaza.com) i will do it. because do i have a large enough share folder (91 files, 413 mb) to make it worth switching?

| My first preference is WinMX and it is succeeded by Kazaa Lite as my second favorite.

| I've been on the lookout for a replacement for soulseek and thought I'd try paulrokka's recommendation of DC++. I'm glad to say that I managed to sort an active connection with port forwarding using a router w/o much trouble. I get transfer speeds up to 50KB/s with 1/2MB adsl, although it does slow somewhat depending upon the uploads. You are right that some hubs have strict sharing rules - I got kicked from one for having a wav file over 10MB - I didn't even realise it was there. I still can't believe one user was sharing 1018MB! |

| Since I started using p2p, I tried (in this order): - kaaza lite & gnutella (through bearshare) - pre-hybrid edonkey - emule - mldonkey - overent (I also tried official hybrid) In my opinion, Overnet is so far the best option (much less connection intensive than hybrid) + horde system works pretty well. It has good efficiency, as long as you are fair and share things. I've not tried dc++/torrent networks yet. But so far I really have no need for that. I might try it just out of curiosity later. My current Overnet on 512+/128+ adsl is set to 50KB down / 10KB up. In my last 320 hours (13+ days) I transferred (up+down) about 50GB. Client is averagely up 14/24. If it was up 24/24, stats would be better. I really can't complain ![]() |

| I use slsk as you don t have to upload(you can just share to the people you want to), you can find anything there(within reason), there are some great communities there and it's totally spyware free. Having said all this, I'm sure it is monitored just like any other p2p and just as risky. Anyway I got some pretty cool stuff there like all the bill hicks bootlegs. | Someone took over the domain that soulseek used to use (don't remember exactly, but new "owners" are just a bunch of assholes trying to make money on someone's hard work - similary what happens now with emule :/ ). Real site has address: click |
