Windows Media Center Edition backup Copy

I tryed using Alcohol 120, and it created an exact copy of the MCE disk, only, i get a missing component error when I install, and when I use the actual disk from microsoft i dont get that error.

I had to use a DVD R because the cd contains around 2 gigs. But is there anyway to get a working fully functional backup without the error?

Re: Windows Media Center Edition backup Copy

Generally Microsoft programs don't come with any copy protection. This is certainly true of Windows 95 -> XP.

Try just doing a stright copy with CloneCD or Nero. That normally works fine.

You should also still use a CD. A CD can only contain upto ~800mb of data on it. It maybe more once unpacked but if it came on a CD then the copy will fit onto a CD.

To make sure try scanning the disk with ProtectionID 5 to see what comes up.

To make a back up copy of your Win MCE 2005 you must do the following.

Copy each of the disk using explorer into folders labeled DISK_1, DISK 2, DISK 3.

With disk 2 & 3 the only thing SPECIAL HANDLING REQUIRED is to use the exact same label for you backup disk as is used on your purchased disk.

DISK 1 requires special handling.
IT must be named the same as your purchased disk.

Also you must extract the MICROSOFT IMGAGE file from you PURCHASED DISK 1 and install it on you back up disk.

GO to Paul Thurrott's Supersite:
http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase...slipstream.asp

AND FOLLOW STEPS 4, 5 and 6 to finish up your backup disk.
