Correct. Sorry but the source it came from is wrong. Do a search with "52x32x52 CRX225E" as the search terms (without quote marks) and you will find many sites saying it is 52x32x52.

Best CD- recorder

One of the best recorders of copy protected discs is TOSHIBA SD-R5272 DVD±RW recorder. A review can be found here

Yes, but the CRX225 has only 24X RW writing enabled in firmware. It is actually a 52327S.

Re: What CDRW drive, gets past most of the latest copy protection?

I've been through many threads in these forums, and after reading tons of information, I purchased The Liteon 52327s, and the Lite on 166 DVD reader. "GeekDeal" in Ebay has a package (only in Black) of these two units, along with a floppy drive...all for 69 bucks. Anyway, I tried copying "IGI2", which uses SafeDisc 2.8 I believe. I used Alcohol 120% to make the Copies, Using Maxwell CD-R Pro Blanks (which I found where it's recommended...(certain brands of discs work better with the LIteon units). I set Alcohol to the Safedisc 2/3 settings, and read the disc from the DVD drive...(which someone in here said they'd had great results with this reader picking up many different types of copy protection) and transferred it to the hard drive/image. I then copied the Image to the 52327 Burner, again using Alcohol. Ok. I installed the game on my moms computer as a test (from the newly made disc's), and to my delight, it ran perfectly, with No Emulation!
It certainly paid for me to read for a few weeks on this subject before purchasing and then trying out making copies...It's for my nephew, who has destroyed more original game disc's than you can imagine! Jeeze! So, I've been on a mission! LOL (learning now this very interesting area of computers) I'm going to try to copy his games over to blanks so the originals will no longer be lost.
I hope this helps you out!
Sincerely.

That's a US$ price.

However, you can get the two drives (i.e. Lite-on dvd and Lite-on cdrw) downunder pretty much anywhere for between AU$80 and AU$100 for the pair.

(If you live in Victoria, just check the The Age Green Guide.)

Re: What CDRW drive, gets past most of the latest copy protection?

I'd really like to know an answer on the topic title? Anybody knows a DVDRW or CDRW-DVD combo (would be even better if it would be cheap) that can handle latest securom 5 and safedisc 3.20!

Can TOSHIBA SD-R5272 DVD±RW do that?

YEs, It can, according to cdrinfo.com, it is the only one can pass the sd 3.10, however it is hard to buy in australia, i have no idea how i can get it.

Re: What CDRW drive, gets past most of the latest copy protection?

HI Guy,
I purchased that package of the Liteon 52327, liteon 166, and the sony 1.44 Floppy drive off of "EBAY", on the internet (www.ebay.com), and then find the "Geekdeal" store within Ebay. That's where the package is. I've purchased other things from Geekdeal, and I've never gotten a bad piece of hardware. Now, you might be able to find these drives for even less... all it takes is a bit of determination in your search for the best Price. Oh! There's another place, in California, called "Mwave" (www.Mwave.com) which has very competitive prices, and a broad selection of hardware in all areas of computers. I'd check there too.
If you've spent some real time in here reading up on things, you probably know by now that Safedisc 3x is difficult to copy.. if not impossible. I read where one guy was successful, but he never posted how he did it (referring to backup's which don't require Emulation). And no one drive will do it all. Apparently, you have to have a couple of burners, such as an Asus 5224, and a Liteon 52327...Guy, spend a couple of weeks in here READING! THEN make an educated decision.
Sincerely,
jt405

Re: What CDRW drive, gets past most of the latest copy protection?

I recommend Plextor Premium, i have backed up 30 games with it new and old. Mostly Secure Rom 4/5. These have been tested on various computers with different OS and CD Drives, so it has passed the variety of testing.

Safedisc 3 was easy as Safedisc 2, on Premium.

There shouldnt be much of a difference, except trouble may be encountered on 3.15 or 3.20.

Thx for the info, but I'd be even happier if someone that bought it could confirm it!
I think that's time that we really get a DVD burner that can handle also new securom and safedisc protections, that's why I also don't want to buy plextor premium...

Re: What CDRW drive, gets past most of the latest copy protection?

I'd recomend either the Plextor Premium with 1.05 firmware, or a liteon 52x cdrw or a lite on 812s dvd writer.

The plextor premium is an incredible drive for making backup and liteon is a very close second.

Can I ask something?

Why do you guys bother making working CD-backups and you don't use a NO-CD crack instead?

cracks are illegal because they modify game files. Please don't talk about them on the forums

Re: What CDRW drive, gets past most of the latest copy protection?

probably I'll choose the Lite-on DVD+-RW writer, because plextor premium is still expensive and also doesn't burn DVD's, what I really need...

Re: What CDRW drive, gets past most of the latest copy protection?

I didnt realise that cracks are illegal. Is this just in the US or pretty much a world wide thing.

I just saw cracks as a way to make things easier for yourself, ie not having to find the CD.
