| Re: What CDRW drive, gets past most of the latest copy protection? My Pioneer A07XLA successfully copied/installed/and plays doom 3 on Memorex 32X CD's. Must be a 2 sheep burner. Also tried Philips 8631, Nec3500, and Liteon 851s. None of them made a playable disc, but the liteon made a good install disk. |

| Re: What CDRW drive, gets past most of the latest copy protection? Hi, $CyBeRwIz$, I am still puzzled with your post. I am interested in buying Plextor Premium. I check plextor's web site. I don't see a model named ASUS 5232A/5224A. I also check www.newegg.com. What's listed there is model PX-230A-BPS or SW. Is it the same thing as ASUS 5232A/5224A? Is it "premium"? Also, in your post, you mentioned "a Plextor Premium in combination with one of the drives mentioned above". Sounds like I need to bug two things? Please clarify. Thanks. |

| Re: What CDRW drive, gets past most of the latest copy protection? Asus and Plextor are completely different manufacturers. In fact, they're not even made in the same country. An Asus CRW-5232A is a different model from a CRW-5224A and, of course, neither is a Plextor Premium.

| Re: What CDRW drive, gets past most of the latest copy protection? OK, I got it. $CyBeRwIz$ was recommending buying two drives --- Plextor Premium with either ASUS 5232A/5224A or LiteON 52327S. One more question: according to www.plextor.com, there are premium CD/DVD combo drives and there are premium CD-only drives. Which one would you recommend? Would the combo ones be as good as the non-combo ones in terms of backing up pretected CDs? |

| Re: What CDRW drive, gets past most of the latest copy protection? The Plextor Premium has specific features and capabilities in dealing with certain types of copy protection that are not present or available (and which are highly unlikely ever again to be present or available) in any other drive whether made by Plextor or otherwise. The recommendation by $CyBeRwIz$ is for one specific Plextor drive (i.e. the Plextor Premium, which is a cdrw not a dvdrw or a combo) and for no other.

| Re: What CDRW drive, gets past most of the latest copy protection? Lite-On LTR-52327S is the best choice for hardware. I made a working copy of Sacred(Safedisc 2.90) with this one. For software the best programs are: Daemon Tools 4.03, A-Ray Scanner 2.0.2.3 and Alcohol 120% 1.9.5.3105.

| Re: What CDRW drive, gets past most of the latest copy protection? Plextor is the best choice for hardware and the game Sacred you said you made a backup with doesn't even use the protection you claimed your backup has. (Safedisc 2.90) Sacred uses ProtectCD VOB + Custom StarForce v3 depending on where you live. |

| Re: What CDRW drive, gets past most of the latest copy protection? Yes but I have other plextor drives and i never made coaster with any of them, But Plextor Premium is what i was talking about. But even my other plextor drives do great, And many people on these forms like lite on but most people on like gamecopyworld and other places say lite on is crap, even most game company tech forms say lite on drives have problems reading there protections. But use whatever you want long you use a desent drive with Alcohol 120% you can backup most items. Some items just can't be backed up but that more for certain games. |

I have yet to find a copy protection that my LiteOn's cannot defeat. Although I must admit every game I have tried has either SecureRom or Safedisc, I have not had any other protections to deal with.
