| Not sure, sorry... I do not own NWN, and I think my friend has already sold his copy.. I'll see what I can do though, since I think this NWN patch is the most worried about problem right now. I'll post anything that I find. |

| Well I am really going to throw a spanner in the works I to am looking to buy a new drive and in a similar postion and watching the conversation unfold. Armed with all your comments I went shopping today determined to buy two drives, best of both worlds I thought At the counter I asked for the Lite-on and the new Plextor. Why the Lite-On was the comment He suggested the Philips PCRW4012K built he says using Asus guts, superior to the Lite-On was the comment. I must say it's a very pretty drive and a tad under £100.00 I walked away with the Plextor and came back to the forum for a second opinion on the Philips any comments on the Philips Guys |

| I made a working backup of my WC3 disc with the newest version of CloneCD on my LiteOn 32125w@48125w. I used the LiteOn as reader and writer and the backup works in all of my drives (LiteOn Burner, LiteOn 52x Cdrom and NEC Dvdrom). It seems there was a problem in older CloneCD versions that made it impossible to get a working backup of WC3. So upgrade to the newest version of CloneCD and your problems with the newest version of Securom are gone. Use the securom settings to backup the game. Greetings Jordi |

Philips use their own chipset/controller so I can't see them using ASUS 'guts'. I wish OC-Freak were around...

| Most drives can burn the new SecuRom protection just fine. There were only some problems with the Lite-On drives that didn't read it reliably. This has been fixed with the custom Profile. I've burned SecuRom new with many Plextor drives and every copy worked. Also tested the Yamaha CRW-F1 which could read and write it at full speed without any problems!

LG owners will argue about this but there are too many LGs that fail at SD 2.51.02x Liteon owners will also argue. I have the 24, 32 & 40x models which work fine. But, there are too many instances of failure at NWN or WC3 for my liking to categorically state that they are perfect

| Well a lot of people are struggling to get working copies of the latest new securerom new protected cds with their Liteys (fortunately, I'm not one of them) so I'd have to say that, as good as they are, they're not perfect and you may well be out of luck with tha latest versions of securerom if you buy one. |

| After reading all of this information, are you saying that the Lite-Ons and ASUS CDRWs are the way to go for burning games on CD-R and CDRW discs? I'm on the fence with ASUS, but like the Lite-Ons. Does the 48x-12x-48x Lite-On model 48125W work on Clone CD, Feurio, and Nero? Thanks..

| Well , to my knowlage the Asus CRW-4816A "CAN" burn SD2.8 (futureproof posted that he burnt Sims : Unleashed) I have been able to burn NWN(not 1.21) and Warcraft 3 without problems. There aren't any burners that can burn the new securoms , but "if" someone finds a way the asus probably won't have any trouble with it. ( MEGA "IF" ) The CRW-4816a is a great burner and you should definatly go for it. |
