Re: StarForce 3.07.013 New Version

Ohhh. This has to be tested. I need a game which protected with this version, because I have connected all my optical drives via ide-sata converter to my mobo and every backup runs fine. I prefer scratching/damaging a backup disc rather than the original.

I will test out the version of starforce. No protection is 100% protectable!

Re: StarForce 3.07.013 New Version

Does any remeber about 18 months, when somone asked about how to backup a SF game? The answer was: You can't, live with it. That was only a very small fraction of games were protected by SF. As soon as more games were released with SF, a demand for ways around it was created. By puting SF on main stream games, they have drawn attention to it, making people poke holes in it. If it can be read, It can be copied!

StarForce hasn't been defeated, it's still a big pain in the ass. But you can create a fully working backup of the protected CD. How to do that:
1. Create an Image with latest Alcohol 120% using DPM with high precision.
2. Mount it using latest Daemon Tools available.
3. Unplug any IDE optical devices present in your system. Sometimes may help a small utility called StarForce Nightmare, but this trick won't work correctly on all systems.
4. Play.

If you was asked how to make a hard copy burned to a media, Alcohol 120% won't help you. But there's a utility called SFCopy - try search the Net, which may create an image which can be burned to a CD. Haven't tried it myself, but heard some good about.

What kind of converter is it? Never heard about that before. You meant that you connected your IDE optical drives via the converter? How your optical devices appears afrer this in the Device Manager (I mean - still IDE or SCSI). And also, could you please provide a link to the online store where this converter can be purchased?
/thank you in advance/

The device is ABiT Serillel 2. I have two of them, but I don't know where to buy it.
The drive still appears as IDE drive.

So what's the catch on using it? If the optical devices is still appears as IDE, StarForce won't allow you to run the game (or any other protected software) off the virtual drive. Purchasing of the PCI-ATA/ATAPI controller is the better choice in this case.

It won't be defeated by vIDE! vIDE will be blacklisted in every new version of StarForce. Most likely it becomes similar to a race between Protection Technologies and Daemon Tools team. And that Russian guys will do everything to make copying/emulating as much strong as it possible at all.

If you burn any game with rmps it will run. Currently I'm using this method (only for backup) and works. I don't care if you don't believe me, but it really works.

What was the most highest version of the StarForce on the CDs/DVDs you were burned? Use A-Ray scanner to detect.

As far as I know, latest versions blacklists RMPS emulation. I'm confused a lot that it works for you. Anyone else can confirm this?

Original English game has 3.6.10.6. This very version of StarForce was used on Russian version of UFO: Aftershock (*Возмездие*) by 1C. Did you use Russian version of the game, or you've simply quoted that from here ?

Just checked it myself. All I can say - you told us pure bullshit. StarForce uses its own low-level drivers to access ATA/ATAPI controllers, so this 'trick' won't work. I'm pretty sure you haven't copied any StarForce CD/DVD, you simply quoted the protection version from the link above to say something.

Re: StarForce 3.07.013 New Version

However, if you use an external USB drive or your drive connected via PCI ATA/ATAPI RAID controller, RMPS emulation of course will function. But in this case you can use virtual drive w/o any troubles.

You've answered to the question yourself - it's demo, anyone can freely try it. So for a what reason should it use a protection?
