| Securom 5.* protected games with Daemon Tool 3.47 :) Sorry for my bad English... ![]() So, from this moment you can mount and play Securom 5 protected games with Daemon Tools ![]() All you must to do is: 1. Run "regedit" 2. Find following entrys in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\Devicemap\SCSI\SCSI Port 2 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\d347prt HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\PCI\d347prt HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E97B-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} last key must contain - \0000\InfPath "pnpscsi.inf" 3. Then rightclick on each entry, then click on "Permission..." and set "Deny" on System`s "Read" option. 4. Go to the Windows dir and make file called "daemon.bak" and set "Read only" and "System" attributes on it. This will stop securom from removing RMPS emulation and Daemon Tools from system ![]() Thats all! This trick works under WinXP only But it works!!! ))PS: blindwrite autoplay must be installed. PPS: If you unsure how to do all these things dont do that!!! |

| Re: Securom 5.* protected games with Daemon Tool 3.47 :) Sounds good, also just set DPM reading speed to a low speed (1x is best). Cheers

| Re: Securom 5.* protected games with Daemon Tool 3.47 :) JoWood XProtect (or some other crap) renames daemon.dll to daemon.bak - hence step 4.

| Re: Securom 5.* protected games with Daemon Tool 3.47 :) Thanks, I got two more questions about uninstalling DTools or Alcohol. Do I have to set back all the modified registry entires and if I used the .bak file in step 4 it must be removed before uninstall? |

| Re: Securom 5.* protected games with Daemon Tool 3.47 :) Another work-around is available if you have two PCs.. You can run Daemon-Tools and RocketDivision's StarWind on the "server" PC and just use StarPort on the 'client' PC. Use DaemonTools to mount the Blindwrite DVD image, then use StarWind to 'share' that daemon drive as an iSCSI drive, which you then attach to with StarPort from the client side. Seems to work quite well, at least on a gigabit lan. Starport and Starwind are pretty neat, in terms of functionality, and being free for non-commercial use is nice. They -do- seem kinda beta, though. (Make sure you download from the rocketdivision.com site, not daemon-tools mirror, as the version at the daemon's site is older. (2.3.0 vs 2.4.2 as of last saturday at least) |

| Re: Securom 5.* protected games with Daemon Tool 3.47 :) I think my experience with the registry method might be interresting for other users, as i had some problems getting my SCSI controller and my Device Manager working again using the registry modifications. | Re: Securom 5.* protected games with Daemon Tool 3.47 :) Hi.. i followed the steps listed above and it works fine.. the only problem is everytime i reboot, the "KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\Devicemap\SCSI\SCSI Port 2" permission that i've set always seem to reverts back. i've made sure i've place a tick on "system" and "everyone" to deny read. and the image is loaded fine.. though after a reboot it reverts back. i've do use any program that could do this. eg: deep freeze, and yes the account is an admin account.. it's on a domain. and i have also switched to local account with admin privilege. it keeps reverting back. no program that i can think of that is causing this. am i doin anything wrong.? did i miss a step. |
