Re: Safedisc 4.00.000 Successes and Non-Successes

True it does depend on your drive. I was just surprised to see that it is classified as being "extremely difficult".

Re: Safedisc 4.00.000 Successes and Non-Successes

@lameCoder
So how many systems have such a good writer that is able to burn SafeDisc 4.xx? And how many other readers can then read this backup? Proceeding from such statistics I've classified this protection as 'extremely difficult' to be copied to a CD, and absolutely impossible to DVD. However, no problems to make an image so far.

Re: Safedisc 4.00.000 Successes and Non-Successes

I have a $40 lite-on that can copy it. So if you have $40 to upgrade your system with I guess that makes it no longer extremely difficult to backup. As far as the reader goes, I am under the impression that it is not as important. Please correct me if I am wrong. I believe that if the reader cannot recognize the "good" backup then it may also not be able to recognize the original.

Re: Safedisc 4.00.000 Successes and Non-Successes

Not every device can read the SD4 backup. So for now 100% correct solution is to make an images as the backups, and not to burn them.

@lameCoder
How it all began: click
... and it got worse; since SD 2.8/2.9 real 1:1 copies are history.

But there are also drives having problems even with the original.

Re: Safedisc 4.00.000 Successes and Non-Successes

.Yea, I couldn't figure a way to "directly" copy the img to cd's so what I ended up doing was spitting the ISO image for COD2 (DVD) into CD size parts (6 X 650mbs) using WinRAR and then burning the 6 parts to CD's and that worked! Now I have a backup copy safely stored away for later!!!

Hi Billyd59 - did you ever get a response to your question posted? I am in the same situation with my Alcohol 120% V1.9.5 Build 3823 and I need to copy Command & Conquer generals DVD - The First Decade - which has a SafeDisk v4,60 protection and Alcohol 120% only has SafeDisc v2/3 setting. Please let me know if you have managed to sort out this problem.

The Sims 2: Nightlife Expansion Pack

Safedisk 4.00.001
Alcohol 120% 1.9.2 (build 3823)
Reader: BTC BDV 316e, read speed 8x Safedisk 2/3 profile
Writer: LG HL-DT-ST 4082B, write speed 4x Safedisk 2/3 profile
The BTC can't read the disk, it says "please insert the correct cd-rom"
The LG can read the disk with "Ignore Media Type" emulation on..

Murtu, were you eventually able to make a good backup of the Command & Conquer Generals DVD? I am looking to make a backup as well and I would appreciate any ideas you might have.

Re: Safedisc 4.00.000 Successes and Non-Successes

The battle for middle Earth 2 uses Safedisc 4.60.
Use Safedisc 2/3 profile (alcohol 120%), read and write with 4x speed and it should work.
Don't use a crack or you will be defeated in about 10 minutes. It's a part of the protection.

All right people. This thread is intended to be a results thread, not one where assistance is sought or provided.

If you're having problems with backing up a safedisc 4 protected game, don't ask for help in this thread. Start a new one instead.

Further off-topic posts in this thread will just be deleted without notice.
