Re: SafeDisc 3.20 Successes and Non-Successes

Doom 3, disc 1 safedisc 3.20.xxxx
Read and write with Liteon 52246s
Latest alcohol, safedisc 2-3 profile read and write @4x

So far success in my 166s without any emulation (other system than my "backup system"). I havent tried other drives as of yet.

Side note: Didnt work with cd-rw, and didnt work with 8x or more. Would take forever to recognize at game startup.

Re: SafeDisc 3.20 Successes and Non-Successes

Hello chaps, been a long time. Just wanted to report my SD 3 success story.

Game: Doom 3, Safedisc 3.20
Reader: Lite-On DVD 166S (found for $30 from a local Chicago-area retailer)
Writer: LG GSA-4120B
Method: As outlined by Virus2k
Media: Memorex 48x - the kind you can purchase at Best Buy

The backup has worked flawlessly in both my reader and writer. It takes a bit longer for the CD to read in the Lite-On, but I've required no emulation and I've not had to uninstall any of my CD-realted software (Nero, Daemon, Clone, Alcohol).

Re: SafeDisc 3.20 Successes and Non-Successes

Game: Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow
DVD/CD-RW Drive: Sony DVD-RW DW u18A - which I will use to play the game
Software: Alcohol 120% to dump and write onto CD-R (would I be better off with DVD+RW?)
What Happened: Wouldn't respond to disc.
I have made a working copy of the original Splinter Cell and did the same thing. I'm need help quickly, so could you suggest what I'm doing wrong, or how to fix it. If it's my drive, then I guess I'm stuck.
Thanks, and I'm new

Re: SafeDisc 3.20 Successes and Non-Successes

Game: The Sims 2 (German / European CD-Version)
Reader: Toshiba SD-M 1802
Burner: Plextor Premium (fw 1.05)
Software: Alcohol 1.9.2
Read-Profile: Safedisc, option "Fast Skip Read-Errors" DISabled, Speed 1x
Burn-Profile: Safedisc
Verbatim-Media

Works on my both drives (atip-hiding needed in burner, of course) without emulation, works also in my girlfriends laptop drive (sony somewhat... ) - not tested on others, but all my sd 3.2 backups work surprisingly good on many different drives...

Re: SafeDisc 3.20 Successes and Non-Successes

The Sims 2

Safedisc 3.20.020

Reader ltd-166s

Writer liteon 482448s

Latest Alcohol 120% V1.9.2 bld 1705 using Safedisc 2/3 profile

Read and burn at max

Works in TEAC Cdr-55s

Does not work in ltd-166s, Liteon 482448S or Pioneer A05
Interestingly enough the original CD1 was not accepted in the ltd-166s but was in the TEAC when trying to run game.

Re: SafeDisc 3.20 Successes and Non-Successes

Got Sims 2 to work ... somewhat. You'll be disappointed by the lack of info in my post. I have a sony something burner, windows ME, a 4 yr. old 'puter with 600 mhz processor.

I used Clonecd 4.-something. The last version that supports the elaborate bites registration. Set on protected game cd.

Keep the copy it makes of disc 1, you'll need it!!! Uninstall clonecd afterward, because the game will detect it during load and say "emulation software detected" or give you a ~df394b.tmp error.

Install the game with the discs, then you need alcohol 120% 1.9 something. Put the discs away and load the copy of disc 1 onto the virtual drive of alcohol. It'll run!!!

It took me 2 days of coming here and reading to get it to work. I would like to thank all of you for saving all my originals from my children!!! I have a 4 yr. old who destroys anything shiny and round. LOL

Now, even my backups will be safe! I've put them all up, and will be using the virtual drive. Saves me from coming home from school to find my disc on the 'puter desk wrong side up and scratched beyond saving! Thank you Safedisc 3.2! :-P

Settings: SafeDisk 2.51+ No AWS profile. Speed 4x. cue file created

Write: FireBurner 2.2.1
Settings: Er there aren't any. Speed 4x.

Results: Success. Backup only works in LTD-163D, as my version of CloneCD's Hide CDR media is blacklisted.

Additional Notes: Backup seems reliable when written to CD-R and CD-RW, unlike Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow which was a lot more reliable on CD-RW than CD-R. This suggests that a read speed of 4x makes the image more accurate as all previous tests with CloneCD have been with a read speed of 8x or ID have relaxed the success criteria for thier implemtation of the guard module.

Re: SafeDisc 3.20 Successes and Non-Successes

Game: Sims 2 (UK Version)
Protection: SafeDisc 3.20.020
Copying Software: CloneCD 5.0.2.2
Reader/Writer: ASUS 523252

Result: worked fine in all of my drives (see sig) but only with "CloneCD Tray" Hide CD-R Media enabled, when CloneCD was removed and only Alcohol 120% 1.9.2's Hide CD-R Media enabled game just gave Sims2.exe error.
