I DL'd A-ray Scanner.
I extracted it from the RAR file and clicked on the executable.
No GUI appeared with buttons as mentioned in the readme file.
My CD-RW sped up to high speed for a while.
It stopped and I got a BSOD that mentioned a VXD error.

I DL'd again but got the same result.

Well, it usually works.
It's crashed once or twice as soon as I launch it.
It crashed durring scanning a disc more than a few times.
It finds "Starforce Keyless" on all the CDs I'm having a problem with.
I was able to copy one of them with one of the custom profiles I found on CDFreaks.
The others have one or to tracks that take FOREVER to copy or never complete.
Well, They may complete with errors if I let them run over two hours.
One of the CDs is The Donnas - Spend the Night.
Sometimes A-Ray Scanner and other software sees the CD in the drive.
Other times they think the tray is empty.

Ok,
Try getting Aray Scanner v1 or v2.0.0.0 from some p2p software if you can and give a scan with that, or use ProtectionID or ClonyXXL to determine the protection.

if other software cannot see the cd in the drive then its not aray that is causing the problem. i would do a virus scan first..
how old is the drive and is it a burner...not a cdrom you are reading from

It's not a CD-ROM. I read with the TDK burner.
I acquired another copy of one of the CD's, used Alcoholer and CloneCD burned it.
I'm thinking the prob may be that these CDs are scratched.
I DL'd ClonyXXL and found NO Copy Protection. The skulls were there, but I believe they were "grayed out".

I DL'd a 30-day trial of Alcohoho 120%.
It shows 100% CPU usage.
It reboots my system when I try to burn a backup of a scratched music CD, Green Day - Warning.
