A-Ray Scanner 0.3 Beta

I have decided to release some beta to public, to eliminate as many bugs as possible.

Current version can detect only 3 protections (Sefedisc up to v 3.15, Securom also version 5, and tages) We are working on others. Also scanning DVD is not working yet.

It is highly recommended to use ASPI (for example tages can be detected only via it)

Any bugs you find please report so I can fix them and next release will be even better than this is.

Best Reagards

Can it detect Tages? You betcha, now we know XIII is protected by Tages. This looks to be the best hope for scanning protections as of late, help these guys out download it and let them know what you find. Good going guys.

I like the fact that you kept the plugin API
very basic and moved all the complexity
to the interface of ScannerPlugin. Now you
just have to document the prototypes of
the 4 functions and the functions available
to ScannerScanDisc and anyone will be able
to add his own plugins.

Well I'm not a GUI guy, but since you asked for
comments it seems using 'Options' make 'Special scan' disappear

Well,

I'm not a cdrom protection scanner software expert, but here's some comments about it :

1- A progress bar (or progress status) would be nice to have.

(Really usefull to know if the program is stuck somewhere or actually doing something since sometimes it could be very long..)

2- Able to save or copy paste the detected protection.

(Sometimes it hard to recall the exact number, or even the protection name itself)

The best way would be to have a "save log" with the CD ROM title
and detected protection (if any)

3- Have the capability of calling an external remote program alike Alcoholer, BWTweaker, etc. and automaticly "fill" the detected protection!

4- Able to detect Illegal TOC, Overburned CD, Bad Sectors CD
with a "standard" plugin.

5- Able to tell which plugins name / plugin versions are effectively loaded in memory.

(So we could have a good idea which protection the scanner software could detect)

6- Optionally able to tell if the protection could requires a 1,2,3 "Sheep" Reader and a 1,2,3 "Sheep" Writer.

7- Having a STOP or CANCEL option during scanning..

8- Have a kind of "Auto Mode" :
(When a cd is inserted, automaticly start the scan.)

9- Have a kind of "Auto Mode" with "unattended Mode" :

The A-Ray Scanner could be minimized into the systray and
log everything into a stdout/stderr file..

Could be usefull when there's alot of multiple CD to scan in a row..

10- Able to identify Alcohol RMPS or Vso AutoPlay signature over a previously backup CDR.

Could be useful to know which software you need to PLAY the backup CDR (ex: Virtual Drive, Emulation, Special Device Drivers, etc..)

==========================================

I think that's it for now.. Keep the good work!

@R!Co & the rest of A-Ray Team, very good work!

MotoRacer3 and XIII both have Tagès, but if I'm correct a different version!!

Will the different versions be detected and displayed?

Looking at the printscreen of kamikazee at the moment it doesn't.
It would be a "nice to have".

Will the following (game-)protections be detected in the next releases: StarForce 1/ 2 and 3, CD-Cops, LaserLock, PhenoProtect, Protect CD-VOB and Ring Protech?

Will the following (music-)protections be detected in the next releases: Cactus DataShield100/200/300, Key2Audio v1/2/3, MediaCloQ 1.0/2.0?

works very well for me! stable (sofar ), small, no frills, does its intended job very well. if this is 0.1 beta, then 1.0 will surely be nifty. as for additional wishes, i think the comments up above are a good synopsis of what i´d like 2c as well.

Kudos to you all for a fine piece of work that´ll keep us free to make backups that are rightfully ours to make.

Glitch - when you scan the cd ---> then click options ---> press ok or cancel it displays scan cd button again. If you press it it will scan the cd again whilst already scanning it, effectively scanning the disc twice.

this can slow the scan down especially if it's a tages disc.
