Psychotoxic (German Version) I recently got my hand on the german DVD version of Psychotoxic published by Vidis (I don't know if there will be a CD version). I made several attempts to identify the copy protection of this game but nothing worked. It must be some kind of custom/new protection. I'm just trying to make an image with Alcohol v1.9.2.1705: after about 5 hours I got about 3000 bad sectors starting from sector 405584 so far (the "ring" of bad sectors can be clearly seen on the DVD). Another problem is that the DVD is oversized (it has about 5.56 GB), but this is no real problem because I own a Dual-Layer burner. Does someone have a hint on what protection this game has and maybe on how to back this thing up? Greetz Peacemaker2000

Re: Psychotoxic (German Version) My Alcohol v1.9.2.1705 image dind't work at all (only the autorun.inf and the angie_icon.ico file was on the CD) but I manage to get a working ISO image with BW5. Now I only need to fix the oversize problem, beacuse DL media is way too expensive for me (about 10€). Greetz Peacemaker2000

Re: Psychotoxic (German Version) You can't back-up a dvd that uses any kind of protection utilising bad sectors(well, so far probably "you can't back-up any game on dvd with any slightly decent copy protection"), don't waste your time. There're no DVD-Raw burners yet. And RAW mode is needed to atleast try to reproduce bad sectors(and twinsectors, but that mustn't concern you in this case). So all you can do is burn the image itself as a file onto dvd and mount it from there when needed... And don't look onto logical size, they might be using linking so the same file appears twice(like in 2 different subdirs) but really physically exists only once. So dvd can appear oversized like to 12gb but really contain 1gb.

Re: Psychotoxic (German Version) The DVD only contains the setup files and DirectX 9 ... I compared the PTSetup.* files but they are all different (so no linking) ... the Game takes about 3.15 GB when installed, so there must be some extra dummy data in the Setup that is not installed, but on the DVD to fill some space. The Setup is created using the Clickteam Install Creator ... maybe there is a tool to extract the setup files and reproduce it (like Orca for MSI files). Code: \Redist\directx_9c_redist.exe 35.097.792 Bytes \angie_icon.ico 3.054 Bytes \AUTORUN.INF 59 Bytes \PTSetup.A01 665.600.000 Bytes \PTSetup.A02 665.600.000 Bytes \PTSetup.B01 665.600.000 Bytes \PTSetup.B02 665.600.000 Bytes \PTSetup.C01 665.600.000 Bytes \PTSetup.C02 665.600.000 Bytes \PTSetup.D01 665.600.000 Bytes \PTSetup.D02 616.356.900 Bytes \PTSetup.exe 665.599.982 Bytes
