Re: Make backup of DVD navigation disc

I'm in a similar situation. I am trying to make a backup copy of my Navteq 05064033AD disc for my RB1. I've used ImgBurn in both my failed burning attempts. The first time I burnt a normal DVD+R DL, the second I changed book type to DVD-ROM. Both discs are rejected by the RB1. I've searched high and low online and haven't found anybody whose been able to sucessfully burn RB1 media. I've found a few that can burn Navteq media for other Nav systems but nothing for the RB1. I wouldn't think DVD labels would make a difference but after reading forums the AB through AE label names are considerably different.

Re: Make backup of DVD navigation disc

Listen:

I made 3 copies of the Volvo RTI DVD's

For S40, S60, V50, V70, S80, XC90

All 2006 versions (Europe Version) 06 22

I tried them on 3 car's, works perfect. Only slow startup! But again, works perfect.

Made copy on my notebook, Toshiba, DVD Burner: Matshita UJ-841S
Software: Don't laugh, simply the newest version of Nero (option DVD Copy)
DVD-r: Philips DVD+R Double Layer 8.5 GB 2,4x

I am in dire need of the 05064033AE as well. I am in Rural Alabama and so far, the unit has been a disappointment. On the way home, it loses track of where I am....my area is just not on the DVD....if anyone can help, it is appreciated....wife gets lost easily so she's driving the other car with the working Magellan 760.

Re: Make backup of DVD navigation disc

Thank you for all the info!
HONDA CRV navteq 2.04?
Successful copy/burn with dvd decrypter with LG "GSA H10N" @ 1x speed on verbatim DL dvd+r changed booktype to dvd-r with ISO file, was sure it wasn't going to work when i inserted it after waiting 3 mins (tried 4 burns without waiting longer) in the car but *smile* worked after 6 minutes trying to read disc, later tries take about 40 seconds to read disk
IMPORTANT TO BE PATIENT TILL YOU GET ERROR OR SUCCES MSG ON NAV UNIT!

Re: Make backup of DVD navigation disc

OK...I just put the RB1 into my car wednesday and am trying to burn a back up copy of the Nav disk and am having no luck what so ever. I tried decrypter, roxio, nero, no luck. I'm using Memorex DVD+R DL> I tried to change bookmark in Decrypter, but when I input anything I get an unknown(failed) and can't change it to DVD-ROM. Any thoughts?

Re: Make backup of DVD navigation disc

Navteq 05064033AD...Alright, I found that my laptop burner didn't support changing book types. Tried it on my home PC, it supported the change to DVD-ROM but got errors at 50%. Another expensive coaster! I'm going to try another media....I'm a sucker for punishment! I do not want to use my original nav disc in the car.

Welcome ramsin,

you should read the whole thread if you haven't already done so and try the backup solutions which are mentioned here.

Re: Make backup of DVD navigation disc

Has anyone looked into the "parallel track" and "opposite track" difference? If you scan the original with DVD Decrypter it comes up as a PTP disk. All copies scan as OTP. Could that be the problem with the RB1? I've tried to correct it with Gear, but no matter what I do the copies still keep coming up as an OTP disk. Gear Pro is the only burning program I've found that even mentions PTP and OTP.

Disregard above post. I see it's already been discussed. No answers or conclusions but a discussion none the less.

Re: Make backup of DVD navigation disc

Hello constantin & orios,

Try to get UltraISO program (http://www.ezbsystems.com/ultraiso/index.html) and make an ISO of your original navigation disk.

Then use ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com/) and write the ISO to a Dual-Layer Verbatim Disk (very important you use a Verbatim brand Disk)

p.s. I deleted your email address to avoid spam in your inbox and we all would like to know the result

Re: Make backup a of your CD/DVD navigation disc

I used the newest version of Clone CD with AnyDVD.
Used HP dual layer DVDs and burnt in LG DVD writer.
Burnt it at 1X.
Says burnt successfully, but did not read in my DVD Navigation
Drive. Wasted 3 blank DVDs.
This newest DVD Navigation is from Mercedes-Navtech.
There are some folks who have copied successfully and are selling it
but will not say how obviously.
Thanks
