Re: Make backup of DVD navigation disc

Quote:
Hey I just burned a working copy of GM Version 4.1 I used an HP external usb dual layer burner model # HP DVD740e and Verbatim DVD+R DL media. I did a disc copy using Nero 6.0 that came with the burner. Beginners luck I guess.
I was able to copy the 4.1 disc too. I used an NEC ND-3550A with Verbatim DVD+R DL discs. I used DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0, did an ISO Read to my hard drive, then an ISO Write back to the disc. I "coastered" one by not changing the Book Type to DVD-ROM, but then did that and the second one works great. No errors in 6+ hours of running.

My problem now is that the Nav unit (I have the TNR) makes noise (like a loud hard drive) reading the burned copy, but not reading the original. That makes no sense to me, and I went back to the original beacuse of the noise. Why would one disk cause the unit to make noise and another one wouldn't???

Thanks,
tech

Re: Make backup of DVD navigation disc

I made a backup of my NavTeq BMW 2006/02 (north America) disc as follows:

Grabbed the ISO using "Magic ISO" and saved to an NTFS partition.
Burned the ISO with Nero v.7x to a LiteOn Internal writer on 4x speed. One copy to DVD+R (Maxell), one to DVD-R (Verbatim), both work flawlessly... no noise, no lost features and no problems on startup.

I also got a problem with my nav RTI player. hope anyone can help or give me your advices. My prolem is that my car is 2002 S60, the player can read old version dvd which is western european 2003 version. I bought a new addition of 2006 version. but it doesn't run in my Navi player. why was it? the volvo dealer said that should be readable even the player is 2002's one. they only suggested me to change a new player which costs a lot. thanks for your advices in advance. your answers would be appreciated.

Try going down to your local shop and buying it.

The Volvo site has the break as 01 02 for the S60 are you sure you have a model year 02 car? if it is MY 01 the new 3 disk set won't work!!

Re: Make backup of DVD navigation disc

My BMW Nav DVD is scratched like hell, I dropped it once on the street and now it is barely readable. (Still readable, with some noise and delay)

How can I make a copy of it before it completely dies? I tried to make a copy of the DVD but the image is only 70mb. I'm wondering how you guys were able to make a backup

Re: Make backup of DVD navigation disc

After reading this topic i did this:
Create a iso with decrypter 3.5.4.0
Then i got some dificulties to change de booktype of my notebook dvd writer (LG GSA-4080N). I try to do it in my desktop pc with a LG GSA-4120B. After upgrading the firmware from A111 to A115 version i was finally able to change de book type in dvd decrypter (see here how to change book type in dvd decripter ).
After that it was a piece of cake... just load the .mds file and burn it. I use a ricoh midia. Then the final test... see if it works fine on my 2005 toyota avensis. It works!
I´m now using my backup copy of navteq navigation system.
PS: hope it helps and sorry for my poor english.

Re: Make backup of DVD navigation disc

Hi
I have the latest Navteq DVD (dvd2-ZAF_2006_VX v4) for my VW mfd2, trying to make a backup of the disc, I only see 130mb on the disc and I suspect that the rest is hidden, does anyone know what encryption is used and how I can backup this disc.

Thanks

I have seen the comments about Fuji DL media but that is what I used and had no issues.

The version of NAVTeq DVD copied was 05064033AC. (2004 release) I am using the backup with absolutely no issues.
Are you running the REC or RB1 nav unit?

Re: Make backup of DVD navigation disc

I've had great success backing up my Mazda DVD (Navtech SDAL format) by creating an Iso image using any old software, then burning the image using Nero. The important things seem to me to be :

1) Write with a DVD-ROM booktype
2) Write in Disk-At-Once mode (DAO)

Hi there. I noticed that you were able to successuffly make a copy of a Navteq DVD. I am having no luck. I own the Chyrsler RB1 nav unit (not the larger screen REC unt). I am trying to burn a copy of the 05064033AE nav DVD onto a DVD +R DL Verbatim disc, but the RB1 nav unit gives me a disc error when I instert the copy. Do you own the RB1 nav unit as well? What tip might you have for me? Did you use a DVD -R DL? Thanks so much.

Re: Make backup of DVD navigation disc

Hello,

As you can see this is also my 1st post. I am also looking forward to being informed. I'm currently have been trying to backup my dvd: Navteq 05064033AD from my 2004 Jeep that I just bought just to find out that someone has sat on the dvd and it was cracked, cracked dvd don't work so well in the rb1 units. After trying to find another disk and not wanting to pay the $150.00 to $200.00 they all wanted for when I saw some on that E***.com but they all said be sure and don't by a copy of the dvd and to get one in the oem case not opened. LONG STORY SHORT I bought one, It worked fine. I thought I wanted to make a copy and use it and pot the other away, I have 2 or 3 dl burners but I had no disks. I got some Memorex DVD + R DL and went to work. I tried to copy from disk to disk at next to the slowest speed 2.4 I think. No luck coaster #1, next I copied from disk to hard drive and made an iso and did all that booking I read about, coaster #2. as I was writing this I took a better look at the disks I was using, and they say RW and RECORDABLE on them. Are they what I think they are? Can I write over them again? In searching the web I found a download for 05064033AE the new disk 7.XX gb long email or pm me on that. I couldn’t get to work ether. You all know that when you put a updated dvd in your rb1 it changes the firmware not to be changed back again, don't you? so if you were to try someone’s dvd newer than yours your old dvd won't work in yours again, I think. The bar code on the center of the disk has nothing to do with it... I also don’t the dvds have any protection system on them.....
Lets keep trying I know we find the way.

Thanks
