Hi. I Was Just Wondering If Anyone Can Give Me Some Tips On Backing Up My Pc Games. I Have A Collection Of About 30 Playstation2, 10 Gamecube, 10 Psp, 8 Ds Games. The Thing Is Most If Not All My Games Are Scratched Etc, Because My Son Doesnt Look After Them, He Just Leaves Them On Tables Etc Instead Of Putting Them In Their Caes. Anyway, About 4 Months Ago, I Bought A Pc, & Have Since Spent About £500 On It, As I Had To Buy 2gb Corsair Ram, Samsung 250gb Hdd, Nvidia 6600, & A Lot More. Anyway, Ive Now Got About 20 Games(quake4, Oblivion, Prey, F.e.a.r, Half Life2 Episode1, Guild Wars Factions, Warhammer Etc) & Dont Want Them Going The Way The Other Games Have. Can Anyone Help Me Back Up My Pc Games? I Have Alcohol 120%, Nero 7 Ultra, Power Iso, Magic Iso, Roxio Easy Media Creator 7, Clonyxxl, Protection Id, & A-ray Scanner. I Tried Copying A Game Already Using Alcohol 120%, & Everything Was Going Fine. I Put The Disk In The Pc, It Started On Autorun, It Started To Install, Then. I Recieved A Cyclic Redundancy Error. Someone Said Its To Do With My Burners Firmware. I Downloaded The Latest Firmware, But Havent Installed It Yet. I Was Told I Need To Boot Into Safe Mode To Do This. Is This True? I Would Relly Appreciate Some Help Here. Thanks Very Much.

cyclic redundancy error is usually caused by burning a disc at too fast speed ALWAYS
slow down your burning to 4x the golden rule generally is the slower the reading and writing the better chance you have of making a good copy!
I suggest you start with some of the good tutorials at the start of the forum and do a bit of research on copying various protection types. I dont believe firmware type was your problem here.

ok thanks for that. what program would you say is best for copying games? i also have gamejack 5, alcoholer & dvdclone2. i just forgot about it as i have that much stuff on my pc & disks. do you know if i can burn magic iso files? if so, how? thanks

Alcohol 120% is the best but it all depends on you hardware.

Never let a game you are going to backup autorun. You can disable autorun, or hold the left shift key as you close the ROM drive for about 30 seconds. (sometimes less, you get the feel for it) I cannot stress the importance of that enough. I do not mean all instances of autorun, just when you are loading a disc to begin the backup process.

Then, identify the copy protection. Before you being the image making process with Alc 120%, be sure to match the data type to the protection.

I use curerom to load the game images once they are safely archived. Have had no trouble up to safedisk 4.6 and securom (i dont recall version).

It sucks that companies expect us to re-purchase a game just because the disk is damaged. Once you have the techniques down, there is no better feeling then knowing all that cash spent on game disks is safely stored away.
