Re: How could I Copy Battlefield Vietnam??

Here is what i Tried, I tried burning the image CD 1 using alcohol 120% using the safedisk 2/3 option at 4x... I was thinking of emulating the image, and copying it with alchohol 120, and burning at 4x, would this work?

I Tried, I tried burning the image CD 1 using alcohol 120% using the safedisk 2/3 option at 4x. It did not work.

I also tried emuating the image with 120 and then decided to try and copy the the cd using clone cd at 4x. This also did not work.

Does anybody have any recomendations as what a good solution to this is.

Re: How could I Copy Battlefield Vietnam??

Hi,

Get rid of the BIN files. They cant hold any information (copywise) that the disk has. Try using CloneCD, reading the image at 4x and burning at 4x. You will need to have the CloneCD Tray running with the option 'Hide CD-R Media' checked.

Try playing from a LiteON DVD rom.

Thanks.

Re: How could I Copy Battlefield Vietnam??

Good. Try playing your backups from that and the method with CloneCD and you should be ok.

I am pretty sure that bin+cue is perfectly fine for games protected with SafeDisc (i.e Battlefield Vietnam)

Cheers

Re: How could I Copy Battlefield Vietnam??

I can confirm that cue/bin files do hold bad sector information and so can be used to backup safedisc games - i just made an image of GTA3 (sd 2.6) to check! lol

Re: How could I Copy Battlefield Vietnam??

I must quickly add however that most bin+cues that don't work are usually due to them being illegal copies containing extra files etc..

Re: How could I Copy Battlefield Vietnam??

I have just tested this here to be 100% sure.
Game used was "Uru - Ages beyond Myst"
Protection is "SafeDisc 3.10.020"
Ripped as Bin+Cue using A120%
Game installs and runs fine from the image.
Game installs and runs fine from a backup. (Using Asus 5224a)

Cheers

Re: How could I Copy Battlefield Vietnam??

Yes, BIN/CUE files hold all the necessary data needed for safedisc (2352 bytes/sector, ie RAW mode without the subchannels) except the pregap area (sectors -150 to 0). This is not a problem for Alcohol, as its virtual drive reports it can not read this area, and when burning, it always fills the pregap with bad sectors, making it unreadable and thus fooling SD's guard module.

Congratulations.
However I would suggest ripping to Alcohols native format (mds/mdf) in the future. Even though iso/bin+cue etc.. do work for some protections, you will run into trouble when trying to backup other copy protections. Simply by choosing to use the native format you can avoid a lot of problems.

Cheers

The protection used is quite specific about where the bad sectors should be. If you read and/or burn at a higher speed the resulting copy might not be accurate enough.
Copies of Safedisc are also very hardware specific and not all copies made will work in all drives.

Cheers

To copy your Battlefield Vietnam
use cdspace 5.1 You can get a trial at downloads.com
Cdspace click "create" and under ignore reading errors select "very long"

The process takes a while so I suggest you leave it overnight.

ya, i need help with my Battlefield 1942 secret weapons of war. i am using alcohol 120%, and the copying progress gets up to 80.1, or 80.5. From then on it doesnt do anything. I tried using Blindwrite but the same thing, at 80.0% it stopps, and nothing happens. ??

for consolehack, get alcohol120%. open up alcohol 120% and click on Copy Wizard. something will pop up and at the bottom it will say datatype: click the arrow and select Safedisc 2/3. click next, next, and start. download alcohol120%- http://trial.alcohol-soft.com/en/download_120.php

Re: How could I Copy Battlefield Vietnam??

For pspman10, don't use the copy wizard but first make your image (Safedisc 2/3 profile) and then burn the image (also safedisc 2/3 profile)to a cd.
