THE MOST IMPORTANT- PLEASE FORGIVE ME MY POSSIBLE LANGUAGE MISTAKES
I live in Poland and i have just bought F.E.A.R. PL
The game is on 5 cd's and i have tried to make a safety backup...
It was not so hard, but when i have downloaded F.E.A.R. 1.02 patch, my backup wasn't working anymore...
It was securom 7.00.00.0109 on the 5. cd and .exe was uptadet to 7.00.00.0149 ...
I made my copy using alcohol 120% ver. 1.9.5.3105.
profile: Securom *NEW(4.x/5.x)
speed: 4x
dpm speed: 1x
it took me about 30 minutes to make it done (liteon 1653S)
I have mounted the image in daemon tools 3.47 and it didn't work!!!
But when i turned on SR7STOP and set compatibilty mode of F.E.A.R..exe to win2000 it worked!!!
Then i burned the image using the same profile and drive with alcohol at the lowest speed (8x).
And it is working perfectly!!!
No annoing messages!!!
I just play from my 1:1 backup cd.
The cd was lame- it was cheap- 69 gr. (about few cents :-)
And from the cd game works without compatibility mode or sr7stop of course.

I think my guide will help at least a few people in Poland with F.E.A.R.

hey, im trying to back my copy up too, I dont have sr7stop, could you explain the process in more detail?

like how do you set compatability to win2000?

and what do you mean u burned the image using the same profile, ima a copying newb, can you do a step by step process on what you clicked in alcohol?

Id be very thankful, as i have gone through about 5 failed playdiscs so far

sure

1.click the first option (i got polish version of alcohol)
it may be called image wizard or something like that (kreator odczytu)

2. choose your drive, set profile in left down corner to Securom *NEW(4.x/5.x) set speed to 8 or lower...

3. Now just set the name for the image and where you want to save it for example fearcd5...

4. In the right bottom you got image type and it should be mds dont change it!

5. click on start (or go) :-)

6. When asked for DPM speed set 1x its the best speed for me...

It will pop up that in about 80% to 90% of the cd is one sector that it cant read... thats good :-)

7. The image will be ready in about 30 minutes and its worth it...

this is SR7STOP...

about setting the compatibility mode rightclick on desktop shortcut to the game, take the lowest option (właściwości) and the compatibility settings and set it to win 2000 only if you want to mount the image in daemon tools alcohol or something like that.
You dont have to do it if you want to burn the image on the cd....

Burning the image::::

1. Start alcohol.

2. Choose the second option (something about burning wizard..... or Polish kreator nagrywania..)

3. Now choose your image file.
And click next

4. Set the profile again in the left bottom corner to Securom new 4/5 dont change any other options and set 8x or lowest speed.

5. Click on start and it will burn your 1:1 copy of F.E.A.R. cd5 :-)

6. Now reinsert the cd or put it in another drive and play....

7. I hope i helped sorry but i dont know the english names of all options in alcohol because i am from Poland....

hmmm, ok your image did you use aray scanner to patch the image or just use the original image?

only thing i THINK i did different with my copy is burn it with securom*new* instead of the 4/5. I'll give it a try how you did it.

also wondering which version of alcohol ya have. Not sure if it matters no one ever answered that. i use 1.9.2 build 1705 just didnt know if maybe i needed a more recent version.

hmmm, re-read, ur telling how to MAKE the image not how to BURN it. do you burn it by keeping the securom 4/5 or use just securom new?

hmm tried everything you said, no good for me. last thing im going to try is your mds file if this doesn't work ill just keep an eye out for another possible way.

heh one last thing, did you update your copy of fear before making the backup?


interesting, when i try to burn with securom 4/5 it says its unable to burn a 1:1 copy with this drive, and now that i think of it, it ALWAYS! said that. Perhaps that is why i am having so much trouble? need to find a drive that can.

Use ONLY Securom 4/5 profile for reading and for writing it!!!

When you are burning it it should be a message, that you are using rmps emulation to burn it...

Thats all..... just simple copy

You can try to set lower speed

And thats the basic of alcohol 120%:

WHEN YOU ARE MAKING AN IMAGE WITH SOME PROFILE YOU HAVE TO BURN IT WITH THE SAME PROFILE AS USED TO READ!!!!!!

I installed the game, played for a while and then i downloaded 1,0 and 1,2 patch and installed it.
Then i maked an image and it worked with upgraded .exe Securom 7.00.00.0149

Maybe your drive is just fucked up ?? :-(

When i played downloaded F.E.A.R. DVD english version i have upgraded it to 1.1 and i found a crack which worked with 1.0 only, but IT WORKED WITH 1.1 also and it will maybe work with 1.2 you want it???????

Of course i mean upgrade to 1.02 not to 1.2 there isn't any upgrade like this

Can somebody tell me how to burn an unpatched copy of F.E.A.R.. I've went through like 6 discs already trying to burn it the way you described and it hasn't worked yet. It says it can't authenticate the playable disc in the time.

It's the cd. It is the retail version. I haven't updated it with any of the patches or updates.
