Could someone please help me out.... I have both legal copies of these cd's and I want to make backups how can I do it with out having to have anysoftware installed on the computer to emulate SafeDisk 2.9 or 2.8?

if your running the backup from you asus drive youll need to use autoplay which comes with blindwrite to hide the atip. just use alchoholor and blindwrite 4.57 and you should be ok. Im not sure on your drive if its sd2.9 capable though.

ASUS 32x is the only non-SafeDisc 2 killer

Definitely not if you want to use it to make sd 2.51+ copies. Samsung burners are not accurate efm writers (i.e. they're all 0 sheep models).

Option 1: ASUS 52x and a LITEON DVD-ROM
Option 2: Plextor Premium and Toshiba DVD-ROM
Option 3: LITEON burner & DVD-ROM

How's that?

Not recommended if you live downunder (unless you really feel like paying off the national debt that is ).

Either of FP's options 1 or 3 will cost you about $105au all up in Oz. Personally, I'd go with option 1.

@futureproof

Lite-On burner and DVD (option 3) does this mean that a 48161H can do the job?
As the other models from Lite-on don't

(I'm gonna buy this 48161H today, just bought the 52327S yesterday )

i have the 48161H and the 52327s they both burn about the same quality for me...i still cant get a good enough copy of sd2.9 to work on my toshi cdrw or creative cdr drive with just ignoring the atip..though like i said my toshi cdrw and creative cdr drive are real picky..using bw and autoplay they work fine on those drives.

now my asus 52x should be here tommorow ill post when i get it on results..i may need to start using diskdump/fireburner combo to get a better copy.

I'n not gonna waste my money on burners, because I know they will not do the job.
I just bought my latest 2 drives and I only got more coasters

i can get them to work with autoplay on all my drives with the 4816H and my 52327s. also i can get them to work on certain drives with doing a direct copy using diskdump/fireburner with alc 120 loaded ignoring the atip. Id just use autoplay if i were you and not worry about the burner..like the guy at VSO said its gonna be real hard for these 35$ burners to burn exact patterns that the manufacturers 35,000$ burners produce so thats why im prolly going to just go the easy route and use bw5.

those drives will successfully read the sd2.9 images so you can mount them and play them on a virtual drive also..its the only way to play a game!

The trouble is that even with autoplay the discs don't work. The only disc that works is the orignal and even this disc does not work in every drive.

sounds like a crappy disk too bad you cant return cds anymore..its really a ripoff the way software developers can get away with selling a non returnable product!..i got this expansion last night ill try it out see what i get.

I doubt it..it still depends on the writer..if thier writer cant reproduce exactly the patterns of the original then youll get a 279$ coaster maker.

though ive never used those devices..

Yes, and even if the backp works, why do you need a duplicator. It sounds illegal what you're gonna do with this thing. It's normal when you make lots of backups with this machine. That really is illegal.

I would just want it not to loose my cd's... I know that price is not worth it b/c I can get the game for 25 dollars but that isn't the point .. I am just trying to make a legal copy to back up for me... B/c some how it seems like the game cd's that I have seem to be scratched at times over a period of time..
