Asus Crw-5224a - Club CDFreaks

This drive is listed as a known SAFEDISC 2 killer. I might have a chance to get the external version (listed as CRW-5224A U) dirt cheap; think there are any real differences between it at the internal version?

nope..well if you dont have usb2 it may be slow as hell.
