I use it because it does a better job of compression, its simple to use, its faster and works seamlessly with CopyToDVD a great burning app. (you have to pay for this too).
Since using this setup no coasters over 300 burns.
And just look at this forum (empty) Say no more.
This is my personal point of view after trying various ones.

I agree with you that DVD2one is very fast but the quality is not so good as DVDShrink. Make a screenshot with MediaPlayerClassic and compare the images e.g. IrfanView and you will see that DVD2one produces more unsharp images.
IMHO Pinnacle InstantCopy is making the best DVD9 2 DVD5 quality but it is very slow...

I would have to disagree. Done lots of testing and I found DVD2One to be better quality than shrink.

The only advantage i find with dvd2one over shrink is speed..
As for quality maybe shrink has a small advantage..

I have to disagree with those who claim that DVD2ONE is better quality. I agree that without the quality enhancement options it might be better quality than DVD Shrink but when comparing the latest edition of DVD Shrink (V3.2) and using the quality enhancement options and comparing DVD2ONE, it just doesn't add up. DVD2ONE may be faster but even so, it will never take you more than an hour total to do a complete backup with DVD Shrink (provided your computer has decent specs). IMHO DVD2ONE is an out of date program.

I think it's all about the money. I would not spend money to buy DVD2one if I had DVD Shrink. Simply it doesn't pay out in my opinion. I have tested both and I don't see the "difference" that would make me pay for DVD2one. If I had to pay I would get the latest Nero Recode and Instant Copy, if quality is my main concern (encoders like CCE is another solution). But this is my opinion after burning with almost all the known softwares.

Re: Why use DVD2One over a free title like DVDShrink

I also made a lot of transcoding tests from DVD9 2 DVD5 particularly focused on
DVD2one, CloneDVD, DVDShrink, Nero Recode, InstantCopy (always latest versions).
The settings set always to best quality and the best result was made with InstantCopy which took the longest time to transcode the DVD9 2 DVD5. For me quality is more important than speed. Maye you won't see the difference on a standard TV between DVD2one and DVDShrink...
CloneDVD, DVDShrink and Nero Recode has really improved the quality since my last test (when Bad Boys 2 was released on DVD) and DVDShrink is for free

Nero Recode produced nearly the same quality as DVDShrink -> what a suprise

It is a question of taste. Some prefer speed, some quality and there are others, who prefer both.

Personally, I prefer what is reliable and easy to use, and that saves time also.

I know he was hired by Nero to do Re-encode but that doesn't mean that DVD Shrink won't be updated again. He was supposed to give up work on Shrink about a year ago but he seems to keep right on working with it.

I was un aware that any updates have been made to dvd shrink in a very long time. as far as i know v 3.2.0.15 is final.

I dont really have anything against dvd shrink,in fact i have found that it does some problem dvd's that dvd2one and dvd95copy choke on. but i think that its wrong for people to bash dvd2one for not having any updates for a while and then claim that dvd shrink is better ,mainly because its free, when dvd shrink hasnt been updated for as long a time, and probably never will be .

Instant copy? about an hour i think. its been a long time since i used it though,I had to many problems with IC.

But DVD2One will do it in about 15-20 min.

Re: Why use DVD2One over a free title like DVDShrink

I love the speed of DVD2One over Shrink, and the quality to close to that of Shrink. But, I have a large collection of TV series discs with complex menus that give DVD2One fits. The DVD2One copies will play in my computers but not always in my standalone. The "Shrunk" copies always work. Bottom line is I use DVD2One for simple movies and Shrink for "Full Disk" copies and pay the price in terms of speed.

Re: Why use DVD2One over a free title like DVDShrink

DVD2One has no preview screen, so you cannot previous the first and last chapters for removal. Works as advertised for NOOBS. Experienced users will probably want to checkout Recode or Shrink.
