DVD2One Discuss, Very, *very* low sound output at Copy Movie forum; I was formally using TMPGEnc to do my encoding but have recently switched to dvd2one . I've backed up around twenty movies and on every one the sound volume is extremely low. If I watch tv or vcr the volume is on '19', yet my dvd movies created with DVD2one

Very, *very* low sound output

I was formally using TMPGEnc to do my encoding but have recently switched to dvd2one.
I've backed up around twenty movies and on every one the sound volume is extremely low.
If I watch tv or vcr the volume is on '19', yet my dvd movies created with DVD2one have to be cranked up to '50' to get a comparable volume.
Is this something I'm doing wrong or does anyone else experience this?
I know I'm maintaining the 5.1 sound by using dvd2one (something TMPGEnc didn't do) but I don't have a 5.1 system, would this matter?
The sound only seems to be very low on my tv, it isn't as bad when I play them on my computer (with PowerDVD).
Thanks,
Will

Hello again silky31

Your DVD player is downmixing the 5.1 to 2 channel stereo and this will always result in a lower volume than an original 2 channel stream. You could (if the film has it) keep the 2 channel stream as well and switch audio using your DVD remote but then you've got less space for film quality.

I wouldn't be tempted to leave out a 5.1 stream in preference to a 2 channel 'cos you'd be really sorry when you get your 5.1 kit

Excellent, thanks!
I'll give 'keeping both audio channels' a go, just to compare
Many thanks, at least I know I'm not doing something wrong.
BTW, your username is familiar , sorry
Will

Would you care to hazrd a guess as to what a second (2ch) audio stream might add?
300/400mb perhaps?
Thanks,
Will
