Size too big Problem depends on audio selection

I have now had a chance to do som more testing since I got the app earlier in the week. All attempts have worked if I select just one audio track, however I get mixed results if I want more than one audio track.

Example - The Usual Suspects

Original VIDEO_TS Structure -
Main Movie is in VTS1
4 Audio Files (1 English 6ch AC3. 1 French 6ch AC3, 2 English 2ch AC3)
4 Subs (2 English, 1 French, 1 Dutch)

1st Config - Selected just the English 6ch and all the English subs.

- Processing time 56 minutes
- Resulting VIDEO_TS size in Windows 4,693,573,632 bytes, (4,693,585,920 bytes on disc)
- Reported size on Nero 4,693,573,632 bytes
- Burn successful using UDF/ISO mode

2nd Config - Selected all English audio and subs

- Processing time 32 minutes
- Resulting VIDEO_TS size in Windows 4,703,524,864 bytes, (4,703,539,200 bytes on disc)
- Reported size on Nero 4,703,524,864
- Nero reports directory too big for a +RW or +R burn

Had similar probs when selecting more than one audio, so it seems that there is a bug when the app is calculating bit rates with multiple audio streams.

Also, note the processing times between the two configs above - why does the single audio selection result in a LONGER processing time? Wierd.

Anyone having the same problems?

Is this a known problem being fixed by the next release?

Yes, i discused it with Erwin just minutes ago, and indeed there is something not going 100% okay with the prediction part.

It is going to be fixed in the 1.01 coming somewhere within the next two weeks. (hopefully, depends if we encounter more webserver trouble )

The new version will fix some more of this little problems, but you can expect the changelog at our site (not every feature discussed today is going to make the 1.01 release, so it's rather hard for me to tell what will and what won't)

Thanks for confirming Rene. Looks like its back to TMPG for the time being! Can you explain the big difference in processing time - is this down to the same bug?

With regards to the 1.01 release can you give me an indication of the development priority / leadtime for multi PGC functionality for episode based discs? My assumption from the responses on other threads is that the full disc copy will be next .... I personally think is less important - better to just let the user specify the required bit rate for the main movie PGC if they wish and take care of the menu/extras themsleves (just like with your other competing products). I really cannot see what the fuss is about with menus and extras - isn't watching the movie with the highest quality picture the most important thing? Oh well, I will get off my soap box.

Good luck - I really think you and Erwin are on to a winner with this product.

No, defenitly not !

Menu's and especially the extra's are more important then the quality !!!! At least that's how I feel about it...

And as soon as that is implemented I'll register the software.

I also don't care about speed ... I don't mind if it takes 5 hours to encode ... as long as I get the extra's ...

Quality indeed is priority # 1 with DVD, but if you want the menu stuff as well.. try my guide on the other thread

Looks like we have a debate on here!

Here's my four penneth and then I will get off the soap box -

Reasons to keep a menu (for genuine backups) :

1. You have multiple audio / subs that you need to access and your player menu cannot do it (most players can do this so this is a rare requirement). Someimes I like to keep the Director commentaries but you don't need a menu for that - just use the player menu system when you play the movie

2. You are keeping the space filling extras. Come on, be honest , how many of these are worth keeping. Cut scences (whicj if they were any good would have been kept in the master), making of documentaries (which you might watch once if you are really bored), picture galleries (please!), theatrical trailers (uugh?) and so the list goes on. In 99% of cases its a load of rubbish thats put there by the production companies to fill up their nice DVD-9. I even heard from one source that they are put there deliberately to discourage backup and copying. Its marketing hype - ditch it and be glad.

3. Beacuse you want a complete duplicate for other reasons...?

Of course quality is the most important issue! (plus multi PGC functionality!)

Come on you menu and extras keepers lets see your arguments!

Because my main reason for switching to DVD is to get the 'making of' documentaries. On DVD these are usually included on the disk, on VHS that's rarely the case.

Quality ? Remember VHS, we lived happily with VHS for so many years ... so as long as the quality of the DVD isn't worse then VHS I'm not complaining.

When I purchased VHS tapes I made sure I got 'special' editions that included these documentaries, so now that I have DVD I don't want to get less ...

That's just my personal opinion, I'm sure that some people don't care about them.

what i think is the best yhat er will be a software that create 2 disc

disc1 whith main menu and chaptermenu and the movie
disc2 all the rest of the extra's

so you don't have to change disc when you are watching the movie

just my 2 € cent
