six feet under vol 3 Has anybody had any problems with backing up this DVD. I have got vol 1, 2, 4 done but three I am having a problem with. I use DVD decrypter, IFO Edit, then DVD2one and at 57% I get a error from DVD2one, this is the only movie I have a problem with.

Same problem Skolson, I have the same problem with vol 3. I thought I had processed incorrectly, but no (retried several times) dvd2one kicks out at the same point every time. I got a hold of a different copy of Vol 3, and to my surprise have the same error at the same point in dvd2one. I have had no problems with other multi episode sets, Xfiles seasons 1-5, and the Sopranos.

i have had the same exact problem. i think there was an authoring problem. if you scan to 41:18 of episode 9, you'll notice some pixelization of the scene. that is exactly where dvd2one coughs out an error. i rented another copy of the same disc and it gave me the same error (i thought that maybe i had scratched my own copy), so it must be an authoring problem. i guess the only thing at this point is to back up disc 3 using 2 discs...unless someone else has a better solution?

WOW! I finally found a forum where someone else is having the same problem with DVD2ONE and that Six Feet Under disc 3!!! Well, after having tried a different disc 3 and having DVD2ONE fail again on episode 2, I decided to finally try it on another machine and guess what - it works!!! There are obviously many differences between the two machines (H/W) but I suspect the problem lies in DVD2ONEs execution under winXP (which is where it fails for me). It worked fine under win2K.

another thought: each time DVD2ONE failed, i had ripped the VOBs with DVD Decrypter. when DVD2ONE succeeded (on the other machine), i had ripped the VOBs with Smart Ripper. i'm trying it now on the original machine, ripping with Smart Ripper this time...

nope, smartripper did not make a difference - dvd2one still aborts on my winxp machine. i tried dvd2one on each episode on that disc and it only fails with episode 2. i started up smartripper, selected each episode and noticed that episode 2 has got 8 chapters, 9 cells. the other two episodes have 8 chapters, 8 cells, one for each chapter. the additional cell in episode 2 is in chapter 4. i suspect this is where dvd2one is aborting. i'm still not clear on why i can compress that episode 2 with dvd2one on my win2k machine, though.

Same here Windows 98, ripped with Smart Ripper. DVD2One crashes at 57% DVD Shrink crashes before that in Re-Encode mode, works fine in Re-Author mode but DVD is more than 4.7 DVD95Copy crashes too TMPGEnc DVD Author noticed there was an error: bitrate excede 9200 Mb/s and thus is not DVD compliant (!) but carries on... it doesn't shrink vob files though, so useless here... Will try DVD X Copy EXPRESS but pretty sure same thing as above. Using DVD2AVI now to convert vob to avi and then will try to re-encode. Never used IfoEdit mentionned previously... could be the solution.

I've had this problem as well, however with the Mac. The solution on this side of things is to decrypt individual episodes with OSeX and mux with Sizzle. I didn't bother with trying Virtual PC solutions as they tend to not play well with the emulation.

It's good to know I'm not the only one who's had trouble with this disk. I tried DVD2One and DVD Shrink with no success. DVDXCopy (full version, not Xpress) was able to back up the disk using two blanks.
