Instead of trying to squeeze everything to one disk, I burned 2 disks for Pearl just like the original NTSC DVD. It seems that the final chapters are on disk2. No big deal using 2 disks here to preserve the quality as much as possible.
Everything went fine and I tested both disks with
Power DVD in HD mode. All good. But it seems that my finicky Sony standalone DVP NS700P has a prob with disk 2, which, by the way came out under 3gb. It starts to play but just quickly cycles through each chapter. I have 2 other standalones, Philips DVDR985 and Samsung M301 and there's no problem. I wonder if it has anything to do with an IFO issue and Sony.
As a side note, disk one is fine on all 3 units and came out over 4.3gb, I burned it with RecordNow Max with overburn on Fuji DVD +R media.
Any ideas on the Sony disk 2 prob???
Just re-read the thread on Sony timing probs. It sounds like the same type of problem I'm having with it. Because it takes a while to start messing 'round with IFOEDIT, I'll wait til I have some time. After all, it does work on my other standalones
