New R1 Gangs of New York 10 VOB Files

The new Gangs of New York (US and Canadian releases) have a total of 5 VOB movie files on each disc.

10 VOB movie files..that's one too many isn't it?

So I re-ripped the movie with DVD Decryptor using 2 GB files sizes. I then used IFOEdit to make IFO files, and VTS sectors.

I then used one of the menus to create IFO files again. Why is this necessary? The movie would not play properly if I did not follow this sequence:

1. Create IFO files.
2. New VTS sectors
3. Create IFO files (from a menu at the top of the program window).

Still, I had the last chapter of the first disc appear after the closing credits - not good.

Please, some help in step by step instructions.

Thanks!

Surely someone can offer me a hand? I keep on getting the last chapter of the first disc at the end of my newly created combined-DVD.

Yes, I'll read the FAQs etc. again.

Thanks!

Please see www.sirscrub.com, and his fine guide for LotR...
The step you are 'absent' is pre-shrinking with D2O to a point where one side has 4 vobs and/or the 5th vob for B is only credits.
At any rate, read/follow that guide (and note 'Amendments' to it) and post back with any remaining questions.

edit:
Regards amendments...take a stab at equalizing the reductions for A/B proportionate to their relative original sizes...it works out better.
Sorry I was so late responding--I was distracted by a thread related to some ID ten-t errors...!

Loggy,

Thanks for your help! I managed to finally back up the new 10 VOB two-disc/flippy version of R1 US/Canada Gangs of New York.

Why they decided to split the movie onto TWO DISCS is beyond me! Of course, now my copy is better than the original, which will never be removed from my shelf again...

Glad that helped...

"Why they decided to split the movie onto TWO DISCS is beyond me!"

And why do some disks include Stills/normal/Stills (which has complicated Var mode on some disks...)?

Let me answer the question(s) with a question...

Was it harder to back-up?
