the 1300A is limited to 2x with official firmwares when ripping CSS encrypted dvds. u can go to Herrie's site to get his hacked firmwares which remove this limitation, as well as add support for more media and can make ur drive region free.

DVD2one reports reading speed?
There is a version 3.1.4.0?
Maybe you´re talking about DVD-Decrypter here?

AZImmortal:
I used the Herrie windows flash on the 1.06; made it a 1.07 and now my PRINCOs will only (sometimes...) burn at 2.0 with NERO. Strange thing is that they sometimes burn at 4.....heres the rub; they (PRINCO, white label from allmediaoutlet.com) burnt at 4X to start. I heard about the Herrie site and did the windows flash to 1.07 and now NERO sometimes gives the " Calibration error" at 4X but burns fine at 2x. Once or twice lately I have forgotten to change the value to 2X and it has burnt at "4"....
,very strange..... now get this; DVD2ONE will not now burn the PRINCO at all. It use to..... anyway I have the new 1.08 upgrade and once I buy another NEC I will flash the old one to 1.08 and see if it helps.

Thanks for the info on the reason behind the 2X read!

If the burn of old one to 1.08 is successful I'll try it on the new one as well...

Thanks guys!
