My First Problem Disk

I have backed up many disks very sucessfully, whether they be movie only or complete using DVD2ONE. No Problem at all.

However - TREASURE PLANET - Region 2, does have a problem.

DVD Decryptor, file mode, entire disk. DVD2ONE - whole disk mode.

Tested after shrinking 118 files to fit one disk. Plays fine in PowerDVD 4 prior to burning. Burnt using NERO onto Packard Bell DVD+R, goes through all the motions fine, starts to play movie, - looks like macro blocks, then freezes the DVD PLAYEr (my standlone). Had to actually restart the player by powering it off.

Checked files on PC, still played fine, pre shrink, after shrink. no problem. Repeated the DVD2ONE process but chose movie only, worked a charm. Note - I used the same decrpyt.

Any ideas? No big deal here, just wondering?

its more than likely NERO. NERO is really bad for burning DVDS. Use DISCJUGGLER or GEAR PRO. ive dun over 200 films with dvd2one and NOT ONE has had a problem. hope it solves ur prob.

Greetz...

We have had several debates about Disney DVD. Do a search for Treasure planet and you'll find my question. This particular DVD gave me actually trouble from the beginning.

To make a long story short. The people at Disney are trying to confuse people making backups! After ripping to the HD with Decrypter, and time to run it through D2O, you'll notice that you see two tracks, exactly the same length but with different chapters.

There is one I believe with 17 and one with 60. The first time I made a backup I picked the one with more tracks thinking this was correct, but no, I made a coaster as well.

Make sure you pick the track with less chapters.

Cheers!

Thanks.

I have run the search and it is interesting reading.

You are correct when saying it is confusing. Indeed, there were two options when doing the movie only option, I chose the option with the least chapters, and this worked.

However, when doing full disk mode you are not given this option. Perhaps this might be a useful addition to DVD2ONE.

As to the problem being NERO, I am happy with NERO in all instances except this one, and I don;t think NERO is the problem. Thanks anyway.

Always test Disney backups with a software player or at least DVD-RWs, before burning a final take. The wear and tear on your nerves (and pocket) will be a lot less

There's no doubt in my mind that the chap who authors Disney DVDs should have his head slammed in a steel door.

An Update.

The full disk copy that does not work properly on my standalone works fine on another DVD player.

I hate things like this.

About the copy of this DVD, I used Smartripper and dvd2one 122, full copy and only movie, I didn't have any problems at all.
The DVD I used was the region 2.
The copy works perfectly on many stand alone players and on PC

Just did this one , also did the coaster version.
The coaster version didn't play fine in my standalone Philips DVD+RW drive , bu played like a charm on my standalone Philips DVD 743.

But anyhow I did the one with the lesser chapthers as well , and it plays better in both standalones.
