Momentary Pause

I am extremely happy with DVD2One; it has worked impeccably with all my DVDs, except one.
The DVD is 'Reign of Fire'. At about 65 minutes into the movie (very close to the point where the original layer break would occur) there is a slight pause. I'm told that you can sometimes see this on certain players, with original DVDs, when the layer break is encountered, but I have never seen it on my Pioneer 545.

The scene has two small flames on the horizon. Instead of drifting away, they freeze briefly and the Pioneer's panel displays 'Search' for a split second, and then the movie continues.

This cannot be seen on the original, which is now on my hard drive, courtesy of DVDDecryptor, and accessed via Daemon Tools.
However, if you play the movie backwards(!) at that point - this is the original movie - you can see the picture pixelate at the place where the pause occurs (funny, you can't see it when it's playing forward).

I'm inclined to the view that the original rip glitched at that point, since I have not seen this problem on any of my other, er, backups. But, it would be handy if someone else with this disc could confirm it one way or another (it's a PAL version, by the way).

I see a number of people having burning problems. I used to use Nero, but experienced problems with later versions. I now use Gear Pro Mastering, which is first class.

Finally, don't believe a word Erwin says about writing this thing in assembler. He actually found it in something that crashed at Roswell. How could it possibly do all this so well in 60K? Be serious

Hehe, well not everything is made in assembler, just stuff that matters

About that layerbreak problem, it is a known fact that not every player is listining to the right bit we set to prevent from that stuttering to happen.
This is one of the things that hopefully will be fixed in the next version of DVD2one

Hi Rene

I've taken this a step further and used IFOEdit to rebuild the IFO files (and leave behind the spurious layer break data).

When this had been done and a new disc burnt, the problem was gone.
