I'm going nutz! - Please help!

I have tried everything , and I mean everything!....

I have an LG DV1000....

Have used DVD2ONE to convert HHGTTG , used the following guide:

http://www.dvd2dvdr.com/Episode_Guide.htm

I have used a multitude of different media... I have used Nero Express (pausing), Nero 5.5.10.7b (pausing), COPYTODVD (disk unreadable) .... Used Imagetools and Disk Decryptor (disk unreadable) to burn the image, have used the IFOEDIT hack to make it stable (as SONY thread).... I have tried everything....

I either get unreadable disks or ones that STOP at random intervals... One thing that is weird and I don't know if anyone else has experienced it is if I FF through the disk it actually skips to various chapters.

I have recreated the IFO files et all and have spent at least 10 hours trying to get a working disk plus countless DVD +R disks!

I have lent a disk that I thought was duff (because it kept pausing) to a friend and it worked fine on his stand alone? So, is it a problem with the IFO's or a problem with Nero?

Does anyone else have a RICOH MP5125A and how do they burn dvd video with it !!! Please help...

Worked fine on your pals then theres nothing your doing wrong it works you just bumped into the worst problem with DVD movies. The blanks you are using are incompatable with your player thats all it can be as the disc plays elsewhere. Ritek Ritek Ritek throw the rest in the bin

P.S use nero 5.5.10.7 is compatable with more players I have 3 players and one didn't work (sonic blue same guts as a sony) with nero 5.5.10.1 It does with vers 5.5.10.7 but it's still a fussy bugger when it comes to media.

easy for you to say!

I just spent £260 on the LG DV1000 as it was a combo drive...

And I am told to go and buy another one, lol

Oh well, I've ordered some Ritek and am going to try them out...

Apart from the stutter/pause problem has anyone else had that weird thing happen when you Fast Forward through a film and it jumps chapters for no reason????

Thanks for all the feedback so far....

Your burner is a DVD+RW and you bought a DVD player reads only DVD-R format. Your only options are replace the LG player with one that can read DVD+ format or replace your burner with one that burns DVD-R format. Will be cheaper to replace the player than the burner. Check out dvdhelp.com for a good list of players and the formats they can handle before buying a new unit to make sure it will work with DVD+ format discs. Or better yet, take a few discs you have burned to the retailer and see if they work on the demo units before you buy.

yeah didn't spot you were using + format, which I have to say I think is less compatable than -. But the very fact that you can get them to play but they skip, would suggest to me a brand of media problem as opposed to a + format incompatability. I would have thought would give you the big I'm not ***king playing this error.

My Setup
Toshiba DVD-R/W SD-R5002
Self build - 2100XP, 80gig 7200IDE, 512DDR, Win XP
DVDdecrytor
DVD2one
Nero 5.5.10.7 using nero express
Ritek gen3 X2 or discrite white top

never fails in any player unless I use cheapo media.

Hello to all,

First of all, are you sure that your set-top player is compatible with DVD-R or DVD+R ?????
I've checked at VCDHelp and they are both grayed out !
So maybe you player isn't compatible with both formats !
Check it out here.
You have to scroll down a bit to see the LG DV1000.
Best regards,

Lenco

No I am not sure that it can read DVD +R - There is nothing in the manual to say what it can/can't read - and yes I went to the URL stated, but thats not definate as yet

I do think it's media, what freaks me out though is that Nero is the only Burning s/w that I can get working to any point at all that the Player will recognise the disk... I have used:

Image Tools v.89 + DVD Decryptor
COPYTODVD 2
Alchohol 120% (hic)
Easy Creator 6

All the above the stand alone player just spat out

DVD Mastro & Prassi Primo refused flatly to work !! As they are just for DVD -R (doh!)

I have also tried to write on UDF 2.01 in Nero but this just made the player spit the disk as well!

I'm awaiting some Ritek White Label , hope they are good at this rate I could tile my whole flat with coasters

p.s I have seen somewhere I *may* to use DVD Bitsetter, do I, and if so, what would I do with it LOL

Ta!
