HELP PLEASE - What am I doing wrong!!

Having used another piece of software from Erwin (Remote Selector) I knew this one would be just as good.

I am however having some serious problems, so far I have only managed to backup Spiderman(American Version).

I have tried The Matrix (American Version), and Lord of the rings (UK), and so far after I burn them they don;t work on my stadard Set top DVD player.

I initially rip the DVD with smartripper, and then process it with DVD20ne, by selecting the main movie, 2 audio tracks (english 2ch and 6ch), and I deselect the subtitles., click next and away it goes.

I then burn it using Primo DVD, standard data DVD and then it doesn;t work. - did for spiderman though.

Any suggestions / tips greatly appreciated - so far I have wasted 10 blank discs as my player wont support DVD-RW.

By the way I have the full registered (purchased) version

Many Thanks

after dvd2one is done, i open one of the ifo files using IFOedit and have it make an .IMG file.

then import IMG file into Gear DVD Pro or Prassi PrimoDVD and burn.

making an IMG file puts all the dvd files in the correct order for your burning software.

Yep, they work perfectly in the PC, never been a problem with that - I think I am either doing something wrong when burning it or something else - still no clue though what that is

Thanks for the reply

Try an other burningprogramm.
You use an "old" old one, but not Nero

A few things you could check :

Are you burning the iso and vob files into a folder named VIDEO_TS and adding an empty folder named AUDIO_TS to the disk.
Both folder names should be in capital letters. This seems to matter to some standalone players.

Also make sure you are using good media. I have some cheap disks that will work fine on the PC, but my standalone spits them out. Maybe worth trying a Traxdata disk or a Datasafe.

Are you sure?

Are you sure you need AUDIO_TS for DVD-Video?

Okay, most DVD-VIDEO have it, but i have needed it so far for my standalone Players from SEG, YAMAKAWA, PHILIPS and TOMSON.

Not all Players need it, but to ensure compatibility witha wide range of Players, it's best to include it, to be on the safe side.

Thanks chumboy - Just about to try the way of creating an img file, and will keep you guys informed.

Thanks Phil - dont think it is the media as I am using the new Bulkpaq Gen 4, and they work fine when backing up a DVD5 using DVDDecrypter to create and burn the ISO file.

SOme good ideas coming here - I will try them all until I find ne that works

Cheers ALL

I have the Bulkpaq gen4 for my Pioneer 105, and they're awful!! I can't get any movies to work on my stand alone player. About 2/3 of the way through the disc the picture starts to turn into garbage, and eventually the disc stops playing! PS/2 won't even start playing them. Burning at 1x seemed to make it worse I see others have reported similar problems when trying to create DVD movies.

Same here, I have tried Bulkpaq DVD-R Gen 4 (the Green one) on my Pioneer A05 with very bad results, in fact, havnt managed to burn anything so far with these discs Tried Datasafe 4x (Grey top) and they work fine, 10 good burns so far and all work in the Home DVD Player as well, no trouble.

Try to burn with another disc and recomend Stomp Recordnow Max 4.5, good results with this combination

I think the 105 is a bit more choosy about media, than the 104.

I use the 104 and have had some success with the Bulkpaq Gen 4's, although I did get some coasters too.

I now use Datasafe Riteks and they are superb.

From what you say, if you managed to copy Spiderman ok, it doesn't sound like your method is wrong. I would seriously try another disk type.

Just a summary of my method, to check against :

Rip Movie Files with DVD Decryptor (vobs and IFO), using File mode.
Create Video_TS Directory, to store output files from DVD2one
Run DVD2one, point it to Source Directory (ripped files)
Point it to Destination Directory (Video_TS )
Highlight the title to process
Select Audio & subtitles, if required.
and GO

Once complete, burn the VIDEO_TS folder, containing your files, with anempty AUDIO_TS folder to your DVDr

I use Nero and all works well, but I gather version 5.5.10.0 has a bug, so if you try Nero, look for vers. 5.5.9.17 or below.

Good Luck m8

first of all:do u use dvd -rw to test the files too burn!! or are you taking dvd-r to burn directly??????
make sure if you rip the movie that he encrypts the files!!You can see that with smartripper(take the all files backup and rip the whole thing!!)
With dvd2one you open the map where you ripped the files too and select a new map where dvd2one can store the new video_ts !!
Then take a burn program like instant cd/dvd
take video udf (udf version 1.02)
Add the VIDEO_TS and the AUDIO_TS
and burn the damn thing !!!
