| DVD2ONE TIP = Better Quality Compression Viewing ! [REALTIME PRIORITY] this tip is based on what i think looks better you can judge for your selfs if you see picture improvement. ================================== startup DVD2ONE. then right click on your desktop and select TASKMANAGER. Click on the PROCESSES TAB. Find the DVD2ONE TEXT right click on it select PRIORITY REALTIME. then click close. now start to encode with dvd2one your movie then after that test it with PowerDVD and look for blocks or artifacts just try your best to compare one movie that has been done in realtime to one that has been done in normal time. you will see as i see the picture quality is better if you dont see what i see or notice a improvment then i will need my eyes checked hehe. Never the less its a tip hope this helps some of you guys like it has me ![]() ohh and one other thing do mot work on your pc when the movie is encodeing with dvd2one and also follow my above instructions to the tee.

| Changing CPU priority doesn't change a bit! All you do is dedicate MORE time for DVD2ONE to the CPU ... Maybe you could speed things up with that method. If what you're saying were true, that would mean that DVD2ONE is transcoding the data with quality settings dependable to the CPU. People with slow cpu's would get less quality , people with fast cpu's would get better... This is simply NOT the case! DVD2ONE calculates it's transcoding settings on the available VIDEO_TS and that's FIXED. Transcoding goes faster with those who have a fast CPU and not to mention, a fast hard drive! But quality settings remain the same ...

| well im just telling you guys what i do and it realy helps with complex sections of movies where more action is happning. less blocks due to high cpu usage though i do think what you said about the low cpu to high cpu that the quality remains the same only with slow to fast cpu you will see encodeing takeing less time to do . but im talking about complex parts of movies and about the fixed bitrate i dont think this is the case with dvd2one. i think dvd2one if you set the dvd size it will jump up and down during the movie and at more complex parts the bitrate will drop if your goveing more realtime priority to cpu then it will work a lot harder on the complex parts. i dunno but i see improvment doing this thats why i thought i would shaire the tip... ![]()

| Computer software follows a series of immutable steps. When the CPU has completed one step, it fetches the next and executes that, and so on. The only thing that interrupts this is the OS, which if pre-emptive, halts the program to allow any other active programs to run. These interruptions are vanishingly small and so, to the user, it looks as if 'his' program has sole use of the CPU. The time taken for each step is known beforehand and expressed in clock cycles - the number of 'ticks' of the computer's clock. By increasing your program's priority, you give it more ticks than competing programs. And that's all. Some machines tick faster than others and will, all other things being equal, complete the same task in a shorter time. Similarly, getting a bigger quota of ticks will have the same result. But there is no 'quality' benefit, nor does the end result change. If it did you could not rely on 2+2=4 say, being always true on all machines So, whatever the reason for the effect you're seeing, it's nothing to do with priority... -Pete |

| I understand the objections to your proposal, and fault-finding to your rationale--but I'll try it before ignoring it! I've certainly seen sillier WinDoze approaches work for unintentional/mysterious reasons. I'll try this on a couple longer/already-copied movies and compare results tonight/tomorrow. Thanks for the intent--if nothing else... |

| Re: DVD2ONE TIP = Better Quality Compression Viewing ! [REALTIME PRIORITY] concerning quality in dvd2one I was wondering.... what program gives better quality dvd2one or dvdremake pro? Reason is i used dvd2one to put LOTR fellowship extended edition on one dvd9 and it looks great. I tried the two towers extended edition and i saw tons of artifacts but I also burned with dvdfab VSO engine so that might have something to do with it. What do peeps think? |

| Re: DVD2ONE TIP = Better Quality Compression Viewing ! [REALTIME PRIORITY] Wrong comparison. DvdReMake Pro does not compress. It is a DVD Editor and outputs the files in original quality. Go HERE for more info. Tons of artifacts depend on the source, how much compression is done and which program is use, etc. |
