DVD2one Frequently Asked Questions (READ THIS FIRST!) *updated*

DVD2one F.A.Q rev 31-01-03

Q:) When will the 1:1 copy function be available?
A:) As soon as it's finished, we do not give out any predictions of when what is ready.

Q:) When i want to process a DVD the program says: Encryption detected
A:) DVD2one can not decrypt discs, use a other tool for that (google is your friend)

Q:) Will DVD2one in the future be possible to decrypt or read directly from DVD?
A:) Most likely not, DVD2one is a proccessing tool and our intention is to keep it like that!

Q:) The original dvd was 16:9, after running it trough DVD2one it became 4:3
A:) Some players seem to have a problem with DVD2one streams if the original menu was 4:3. This bug is going to be fixed in the next release

Q:) I have a disc with a serie of episodes can i process this with DVD2one?
A:) Yes and No, yes it is possible using some very complicated tricks but to do it 1:1 NO not yet (see question one)

Q:) Can i use an external encoder? (like CCE or TMPEG)
A:) No, since we use our own compression engine it is impossible to add support for external decoders at this moment!

Q:) I want you to make this or that feature
A:) Great we apriciate your input, but don't expect every request to be forfilled!

Q:) Where can i download the source?
A:) try ftp 127.0.0.1 :) in other words you CAN'T! DVD2one is closed source software

Q:) What's the secret beyond the speed of the encoder?
A:) We use our own assembly based compression engine!

Q:) Can i use DVD2one to compress to CD-size
A:) Yes, you can, but don't expect great quality, DVD2one is a compressor not an encoder!

Q:) Can i use DVD2one to make a VCD/SVCD
A:) No, DVD2one only does DVD based processing.

Q:) Can i use DVD2one to convert DiVX to DVD
A:) A:) No, DVD2one only does DVD based processing.

Q:) My recording software doesn't work correctly
A:) Try contacting the maker of that particulair piece of software

Q:) Does DVD2one support DTS or AC3?
A:) DVD2one only compresses the VIDEO streams and leaves the AUDIO stream untouched and copies them 1 on 1

Q:) Can DVD2one transform DTS to AC3 or visaversa
A:) No, DVD2one is a video compressor no more no less

Q:)What happens if the movie is smaller then 4.37 Gb
A:)Nothing, DVD2one just builds a new IFO and rearranges the VOBS while removing your unwanted subtitles/audio streams

More general questions will be answered in here soon.
